Advent of the Wurm Discussion

Thanks for the suggestions, passascats! All good suggestions, although I have reasons for not running two of them. I don't run Aetherflux Reservoir because I don't like painting that big of a target on myself, and I don't run Parallel Evolution because I'm not the only one in my playgroup that plays a token deck, and I feel like doubling all tokens on the field isn't necessarily a good idea. I actually made a conscious decision to take Coursers' Accord over Advent of the Wurm, because of the populate trigger. Once I have my token doubling engines online, as long as I have some token with toughness 3 or greater, it's still a better engine. I'll definitely look into Darien, King of Kjeldor and Phyrexian Processor, though!

You're missing Phyrexian Processor. It is completely broken with Trostani. Also if you want another crazy combo, Darien, King of Kjeldor basicly makes you immune to damage while Trostani is out. In most cases Advent of the Wurm is going to be better than Coursers' Accord. It's a little more situational, but since you're already playing Primal Vigor you probably don't mind, but Parallel Evolution can change games. With the life you'll be gaining you may also want to consider Aetherflux Reservoir, insta-kills can come in handy if the board doesn't let you take everyone out at once.I love my Trostani deck, it was the second deck I ever built, and it's still one of my favorites to play with.
Good Luck!

Panharmonicon feels a bit underpowered in this list. It synergizes with some of your draw engines and your commander, but beyond that there aren't all that many good etb effects to double.

Next, you have a lot of cards that are simple one-off token producers, like Advent of the Wurm or Desolation Twin. I'm not sure if they're quite powerful enough to justify their inclusion. Perhaps some strong repeatable token generation that synergizes with your commander would be better. Crested Sunmare and Angelic Accord both generate large creatures every turn with Trostani on the field. Another strong repeatable token producer is Phyrexian Processor, which requires some life to start it off, but can produce giant tokens.

Finally, with all the life you're gaining, you might consider some way to weaponize life gain, such as Aetherflux Reservoir or Felidar Sovereign.

ALASKAN. BULL. WORM.

Now that the important things are said: i suggest Benefaction of Rhonas or Commune with the Gods to filter and to fill your grave for boneyard wurm. Also, Advent of the Wurm is pretty powerful, though it would need a little splash.

The best way to circumvent the frustrations of slow acquisition is definitely to purchase singles online. If you have a card/paypal and $20 or so in the bank, it should be really easy to find what you need on TCGPlayer. If that doesn't work for you, checking game stores in your vicinity for singles is also an option, albeit a less reliable one. Some cards you might consider are Trostani, Selesnya's Voice, Blisterpod, Advent of the Wurm, and Midnight Haunting.

You asked for curring advice, so here's some cards I'd cut:

Soul of the Harvest, you're a token deck. If your hand run's emtpy replace it with Harmonize. Also cut Collective Blessing for Test of Endurance and Marshal's Anthem for Quicksilver Amulet.

Other cards I'd cut:Mikaeus, the Lunarch, Primordial Hydra, Silverblade Paladin, Primeval Bounty, Staff of Nin, Advent of the Wurm, Forgotten Ancient, Riot Control, Thragtusk and a single land.

Some of these are good in 60 card constructed, others are too slow or way to expensive and some just don't do anything useful for you.

But that's just some tips. Update the deck to your liking, smooth out your mana curve, change average cmc to below 3.5 and test it. It should run way better and more consistent. After that, check if you need more card draw, tutors or interaction. Enlightened Tutor and Idyllic Tutor might be worth looking at in the second interation, since they find Survival of the Fittest which in turn finds the creatures you want, and also they find all the other cool enchantments you have like the doubling seasons and Cathars' Crusade

It's up to you to make your deck comp work, making sure you're running the right number of creatures/ramp/draw/removal/misc. So I'll just give you a list of cards that I think are generally weak, and you can make of it what you will.
