The Setup

I play Oloro, Ageless Ascetic with a lot of card draw in mind and, for obvious reasons, there is also quite a bit of life gain shenanigans going on as well.

The Cards

Card Draw

I have included here some of the staples, specifically Alhammarret's Archive which works nicely with Oloro's 2 life per turn and then allows me to draw 2 cards rather than 1 if I manage to get Oloro to the battlefield. Another fun card is Indulgent Tormentor . It serves the dual purpose of card draw and potential spot removal. There are many others as well, of course... Bident of Thassa , Dark Prophecy , Greed the American Express card of EDH, Phyrexian Arena , Paradoxical Outcome , Damnable Pact , Bloodgift Demon , Baleful Force , and Drogskol Reaver .

Life Gain

Life gain was the original purpose of this deck, and it has remained so even now. Much of my card base is devoted to boosting my life total. Among the most important are Beacon of Immortality which doubles my life total, and if I can get Rhox Faithmender out with this I gain quite a bit. There are many others - Wall of Reverence , Filigree Angel which I added because I do have several artifacts in this deck, Words of Worship , Angelic Chorus which piggybacks well with cards like Storm Herd and Crested Sunmare , and Venser's Journal which gains me life based upon my hand size.

Utility

Psychosis Crawler is a phenomenal card for this deck, with my hand size expanding so does its power and toughness, plus I gain life for the card draw...yes please! Angel of Invention comes in and either boosts my creatures with lifelink, or it hits me up with Angelic Chorus when I create the Servos. Spellbook is a must, as it eliminates your maximum handsize (plus it has a 0 drop!), and Serra Avatar which can come out as a beast and I can either sac it for the life gain, or attack.

Planeswalkers

Ob Nixilis Reignited just screamed to be added to this deck, and his counterpart Ob Nixilis of the Black Oath , while it doesn't come in with as high a loyalty it makes up with its +2 ability (Did I mention earlier about sacrificing Serra Avatar for life gain? Ob Nixilis has my back). Sorin, Grim Nemesis comes in with 6 loyalty counters and allows me to scry the top card of my library, plus it ultimates at -9 when it creates a small army of vampire knights with lifelink equal to my life total (which would be the highest). Ajani Goldmane is also here for the life gain, but also for affordable ultimate which creates basically a second Serra Avatar.

Removal

Removal in my Oloro deck includes Anguished Unmaking for the lifegain, Killing Wave for the control, Hour of Revelation for the board wipe, followed by Vona, Butcher of Magan and Shauku, Endbringer for spot removal.

Tutors

I do not use too many tutors in this deck, mainly because it draws so fast. What I do use is Behold the Beyond for its ability to search and grab combos, and Lim-Dul's Vault which is basically a free pass to scry my entire library if I want to.

Win Cons

I've included the staple win con for this deck, the Exquisite Blood / Sanguine Bond combo, but also Aetherflux Reservoir , Felidar Sovereign , and Approach of the Second Sun .
