  1. Leonin Warleader for Junk Diver - diver has very little board pressure , unless your in a very specific situation this little guys not guna do much
  2. Kor Firewalker for Thundersong Trumpeter - very nice upgrade to stop big blockers or to stop big atraxas from swing at you lol,
  3. Loyal Cathar  Flip for Archetype of Courage - one extra colourless to add a very nice board presence, now when people double block for menace u can usually first strike down one of the blockers immediatly

a few more creatures i would like to see squeeze in would be

  1. Archangel of Tithes
  2. Aurelia, Exemplar of Justice
  3. Captain Lannery Storm .

i would suggest either Hammer Dropper and perhaps a 1 drop like Doomed Traveler or Figure of Destiny or even the Opaline Unicorn . the figure seems good but u gota sink alot of mana into him and u would rather be playing creatures then sinking into him

a few suggestions for land upgrades, this one is about 8 bucks but an upgrade none the less Rugged Prairie and i also suggest looking at these. Make sure not to add any more tapped lands unless you remove a few first, too many tap lands with aggro is not good for a fast start

Mana fixing: Alloy Myr , Abundant Growth mana fixing for 1 green, Pyramid of the Pantheon , Fellwar Stone , Fertile Ground , Joiner Adept , Manamorphose , Pillar of Origins only helps with Ur, Sphere of the Suns , Sylvan Caryatid , Trace of Abundance could be hard to cast, Chromatic Lantern , Coalition Relic , Commander's Sphere , Darksteel Ingot , Draconic Disciple , Manalith , Opaline Unicorn , Shaman of Forgotten Ways , Vessel of Endless Rest , Crystalline Crawler

The point is you need a bunch of artifacts or low drops that add mana or fix your mana. This way you could focus on lands that don;t come in tapped or lands that are limited to playing different spells. If they draw a card in some way that is ideal as well.

Defeat isn't going to hit much in a game of commander, I'd run Terminate and/or Dreadbore instead.

I don't know that Mind Rot will do much for this deck. If there is incidental discard tied to an effect that deals damage, then go for it, or in the case of Syphon Mind, has card draw attached.

I would second the 'not enough land' comment from Hades above. I don't think you want to go as high as 40-42 lands but 37-38 is closer to what you'll want/need for a mana curve with a higher end. More mana rocks as well; Coldsteel Heart, Sol Ring, etc. Opaline Unicorn should probably be Darksteel Ingot or Commander's Sphere.

Sibsig Muckdraggers should be cut. If you need to get creatures back from the graveyard, I'd use Phyrexian Reclamation. I wouldn't worry about forcing in zombies for Shepherd of Rot, you just need it to ding opponents for 1 to cast your commander.

All Is Dust could work for you with the emphasis on Devoid creatures.

Zurgo is definitely a fun commander to play, I would recommend going for the aggro/voltron route. Cards that give Zurgo himself double strike or extra combats for set up. Here might be some cards that can be considered: Seize the Day, Sigarda's Aid, Combat Celebrant, Silverblade Paladin, Arashin Foremost, Bruse Tarl, Boorish Herder, Temur Battle Rage, World at War, Duelist's Heritage, Dictate of the Twin Gods, Ajani, Caller of the Pride

Cards I would recommend cutting would be: Resolute Archangel, Plaguecrafter, Opaline Unicorn, Howling Golem, Fleshbag Marauder, Miraculous Recovery, Risk Factor, Smelt, Hazoret's Undying Fury, Impale, Mind Rot, Repeating Barrage, Rise from the Grave, Shadow Slice, Walk the Plank, Arcane Encyclopedia...oh man there is actually quite a bit...

The most important thing to see when deck building is what is your main goal of your deck? After that it's how to achieve you goal or gameplan. Than add cards to support your game plan. For your Zurgo deck, I would recommend adding in more cheap ramp, removal spells, card draw, than protection. The cards I suggested earlier should be under $5 at most and should be affordable to get.

You probably replace the Witches' Eye with a Lifecrafter's Bestiary since it provides an upkeep auto scry and some card advantage without having to either equip, or tap a creature. The Guilds of Ravnica set made a reprint of Chromatic Lantern so it may not too costly an alternative for the Opaline Unicorn!

Personally, looking a bit closer, I would go with Karametra, God of Harvests as a commander. I did a gatherer search including Antelope, Elk, Horse, Unicorn.

Burnished Hart and Dawntreader Elk get you additional land. Grazing Gladehart gains life for landfall.

Capashen Unicorn blows up artifacts and enchantments. Somberwald Stag can be used as a sort of creature removal.

Opaline Unicorn taps for mana. Diamond Mare from the new set gets you life when you cast spells.

Crested Sunmare is a horse that makes other horses.

Stampeding Elk Herd can give your other stuff trample (which works great with Beastmaster Ascension, since it doesn't give trample).

Some suggestions to consider: take out Manalith, Opaline Unicorn, Embodiment of Spring, and Gruul Keyrune, replace with Gruul Signet, Simic Signet, and Izzet Signet, and Sol Ring. For flying, Wonder provides a similar effect to Archetype of Imagination, and is a little harder to deal with. You will want to add more lands to this deck in order to cast your big creatures on time. I would say 35-38 lands, and cut some of your sorceries for ramp spells like Rampant Growth, Farseek,Cultivate, Kodama's Reach, Explosive Vegetation, or Skyshroud Claim. Thassa, God of the Sea is a more reliable way to make creatures unblockable than Invisibility or Way of the Thief. I always include a copy of Decimate in any deck that can play it. The same goes for Cyclonic Rift and Chaos Warp. Lastly, a few creatures that you could upgrade your deck with: Sakura-Tribe Elder, Joraga Treespeaker, Sylvan Caryatid, Courser of Kruphix, Genesis, Avenger of Zendikar, Prime Speaker Zegana, and Progenitor Mimic.
