OLD DESCRIPTION

Iroas took up the mantle of leadership - and now commands the power of the Boros Legion.

A fun, semi-budget deck based on the God, Iroas. This deck tries to win the old fashion way - not by crazy combo's or locking your opponents out, keeping them from playing. Also, I detest playing with tokens. They would've been a great addition to the deck, making attack trickers easier to get and having tokens with menace is just plain cruel. But, as said - I wanted this deck to be more fun than competitive.

Most of the creatures have interesting effects when they're allowed to attack - and in this deck, they can attack without a care, thanks to Iroas, God of Victory. Therefore, cards such as Firemane Avenger, Sun Titan and Preeminent Captain will give us maximum value! Also, using Flamerush Rider to get extra trickers!

To make sure our creatures are up for the task of bringing x number of opponents from 40 to 0 - we'll need anthem effects. These count both classic cards such as Spear of Heliod and Angelic Skirmisher but also "Battlecry"-effects from cards such as Hero of Oxid Ridge and Victory's Herald.

For mana ramp, we use both classic mana rocks such as Boros Signet and Sol Ring but also less traditional ramping cards which fits the deck's theme: Herald of War and Sword of the Animist for example. Braid of Fire is simply too good not to include.

As removal, we use the staples Path to Exile, Chained to the Rocks and Swords to Plowshares as our single target spells. More interesting is our board wipes. Being instant and damage based - we can make them onesided if they're played in our attack phase:Starstorm, Magmaquake - and as an added bonus, Magmaquake won't target our many flying angels. If everything goes wrong we have Hour of Revelation which was chosen for budget reasons.

As card draw, we'll use Infiltration Lens to put our opponents between two hard choices and Staff of Nin for the late game draw and pinging of annoying creatures.

At last, we have cards like Blazing Archon and Lightmine Field to protect us - when all our creatures are out beating up the opponents.

As a side note, many of the cards are already part of my collection: and did, therefore, get a spot over other - maybe better-suited cards.
