What is the Gitrog Monster deck?

The Gitrog Monster is a fast combo deck utilizing fast mana, black tutors, Mana dorks, and a high density of good cards to win the game quickly by assembling dakmor salvage + discard outlet and our commander. The deck can also grind value turn after turn with engine cards, dump all its resources into explosive storm-like turns, go off uncounterably at instant speed, and utilize the discard step to sculpt a perfect hand and win at the end of the turn. This is a dense, high-powered, complicated deck whose power increases with your investment in it.

Introduction

I'm worldlytutor, and I've been playing Gitrog Monster for over a year now to fantastic results - this is the deck I use when I am making no concessions for power, and I have won over 80% of the games I've played with this deck, against high power - competitive pods. This is my paper list as it stands right now.

How do we actually win?

As described in Leptys' primer, we need to utilize crop rotation to put into play our Emergence Zone (if we're winning at instant speed), and then we can loop our Lotus Petal or what-have-you to create infinite BG Mana, then Assassin's Trophy (Or Ulamog + Culling the weak) away everyone'l else's permanents until there's absolutely nothing left, Thoughtseize / Duress their hands away, flash in Oblivion crown and discard the dakmor as many times as we want to pump any creature without summoning sickness to lethal amounts, and swing with our Mongrel / Constrictor / Crowned Creature for the win. All of these cards are part of our combo, or removal / discard spells we were already using - there are no dead slots. You can also utilize Finale of Devastation to pump and haste your creatures, or loop a deathrite shaman to drain out players for the x= 2×spells in your deck. You can be creative. You don't need any dead "kill card" like Geth's Verdict or Praetor's Grasp to win the game, though it can be easier to explain those sometimes and they're mostly still fine.
