EDH Meren: Never Gonna Keep Me Down

Commander / EDH Aristocrats BG (Golgari) Reanimator

WhiteLance

Maybeboard

The main idea is to sacrifice creatures using one of the sac-outlets, or the activated abilities of some creatures, while Meren is on the battlefield to get experience counters. In the early game, you can bring back stuff like Sakura-Tribe Elder to ramp while you build up. Or you can get back Fleshbag Marauder or Fleshbag Marauder #2 repeatedly to make opponents sacrifice their own creatures many times.

Near the end, the goal is to use Grave Titan or Avenger of Zendikar to get tons of creatures, and use Pathbreaker Ibex to pump them all. If that doesn't work, hopefully Rise of the Dark Realms will help you finish the game if you milled yourself enough and/or destroyed enough of your opponents' creatures.

Combos:

Ashnod's Altar + Avenger of Zendikar + Nim Deathmantle

Ashnod's Altar + Grave Titan + Nim Deathmantle

Ashnod's Altar + Nim Deathmantle + Wurmcoil Engine

All of these combos are meant to produce infinite mana and infinite creatures. Here's how it works (for those unfamiliar):

Have Ashnod's Altar , Nim Deathmantle , one of Wurmcoil Engine / Grave Titan / Avenger of Zendikar , and at least one other creature on the field. Sacrifice two creatures to Ashnod's Altar , then trigger Nim Deathmantle by sacrificing Wurmcoil Engine / Grave Titan / Avenger of Zendikar (which may have been one of your two sacrifices). Use the mana from Ashnod's Altar to bring back Wurmcoil Engine / Grave Titan / Avenger of Zendikar with Nim Deathmantle . On ETB (or death, for Wurmcoil Engine ), you should get two token creatures (assuming at least two lands when using Avenger of Zendikar ). Then you can sacrifice those creatures and Wurmcoil Engine / Grave Titan / Avenger of Zendikar to repeat the process, gaining two mana each time. You can then use this excess mana to bring back Wurmcoil Engine / Grave Titan / Avenger of Zendikar without sacrificing other creatures, allowing you to get infinite token creatures. Then you can win by getting an attack through with your huge army of creatures. If using Avenger of Zendikar , you'll need to boost your 0/1 tokens with an ability like Avenger of Zendikar 's landfall trigger.
