DECK 23 | UPDATED: 2025-06-26 | STATUS: ACTIVE
- General: Lord of the Nazgûl
- Colors: UB
- Theme: Wraith tribal
This deck was built using AI.
Step into the desolate lands of Mordor at the will of the Witch-king's master.
The goal is to conjure a chilling host of Nazgûl and their spectral Wraiths, representing the relentless pursuit and overwhelming might of Sauron's most feared servants.
Every spell cast echoes with dark magic, conjuring another spectral warrior to join the ranks.
Turning Spells into Shadows.
The heart of this deck lies in maximizing Lord of the Nazgul's first ability: "Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell, create a 3/3 black Wraith creature token."
The deck is packed with a high density of low-mana-value instant and sorcery spells. Cantrips like Opt, Consider, Ponder, Preordain, and Think Twice are crucial. They replace themselves, cost little mana, and (most importantly) each generate a 3/3 Wraith token.
This rapidly populates the battlefield with spectral forces.
As the wraith army grows, Lord of the Nazgul's second ability comes online: "As long as you control nine or more Wraiths, Wraith creatures you control have base power and toughness 9/9 until end of turn."
This transforms your 3/3 tokens into terrifying 9/9 menacing threats, making an immediate lethal force.
Key Synergies & Power Plays:
- Repeatable Wraith Generation:
- Isochron Scepter + any 1 or 2 mana Instant: Imprint a cheap instant (like Counterspell, Doom Blade, Opt, etc.) onto the Scepter. For 2 mana each turn, you can cast that instant repeatedly, generating a fresh 3/3 Wraith token every time. This is a primary engine for consistent Wraith production and interaction.
- Endless Evil: Enchant one of your Nazgul creatures. Each upkeep, you'll create another copy of that Nazgul, further expanding your Wraith ranks. This is a slower but highly thematic and repeatable source of on-theme tokens.
- Combat Overwhelm:
- Cover of Darkness (naming Wraith): Grants all your Wraiths Fear, making them unblockable by most creatures. This is often a game-ending enchantment when combined with a critical mass of 9/9 Wraiths.
- Wonder: Grants flying to your creatures if an Island is in your graveyard (which will happen naturally with your cantrips). This provides an alternative form of evasion.
- Profaner of the Dead: Once you have 9+ Wraiths, sacrifice a 9/9 Wraith with Exploit. This bounces all opponents' creatures with toughness less than 9, clearing the way for a massive, decisive attack.
- Protection & Resilience: Lightning Greaves, Swiftfoot Boots, and Slip Out the Back keep your crucial creatures (especially your Commander) safe from targeted removal. Reality Ripple offers flexible phasing for protection or tempo. Propaganda provides a defensive cushion, deterring attacks while you build your board.
- Early Game Pressure & Value: Thing in the Ice
acts as a powerful early blocker and rapidly transforms into a huge, unblockable threat by simply casting your spells, also bouncing opponents' boards upon transformation. Baleful Strix is a perfect early-game speed bump that replaces itself.
- Mana Ramp: A suite of 2-mana rocks (Signets, Diamonds, Lenses, Mind Stone, Patchwork Banner) combined with Sol Ring and Dark Ritual ensures you have the mana to deploy your commander quickly and cast multiple spells per turn.
Infinite Combos:
Deck Strengths:
- Highly Synergistic: Almost every card supports the core "spell-slinging for Wraiths" theme.
- Resilient: Multiple layers of card advantage ensure you always have options.
- Explosive Potential: Can quickly go wide and tall with Wraiths, and can clear the board for lethal.
- Thematic: A strong and flavorful representation of the Nazgûl.
