Maybeboard

Because I don't have anything better to do with my spare time, it was time to work on yet another new deck. I've been wanting to build a deck with Ezuri, Claw of Progress ever since the Commander 2015 decks were released. I just love the Phyrexian lore; it appeals to my brighter, shinier nature. My other main deck is Mardu vampires à la Edgar Markov, Legion of Blood, so doing Simic colors seemed like a good way to go. It'll be nice to not have overlap in the colors of my primary decks, so that I'm not proxying staples.

A few thoughts on what I am not trying to do.
1) I am not looking to play an infect deck. As much as I love the feel of Phyrexia, I like having friends more. And even though my playgroup has modified the number of poison counters to kill a player to half of starting life, there's still something that feels slimy about winning with infect. I am running Triumph of the Hordes, but its there for the mass trample effect when it's time to go in for an alpha strike.

2) I am not looking to play a bunch of infinite combos, although it seems like it would be entirely too easy to do with this deck. I think the only thing I have going in this realm is Sage of Hours for all that extra turn goodness that can quickly turn into infinite turns. This will be handy for stopping those games that just get dumb.

3) The biggest one of all. I am not looking to build an Elfball deck. Yuck. I hate those pointy-eared bastards. My playgroup already has one Elfball deck, and I'm not looking to add to the vomitous masses of green-blooded goblins.

What I am looking to do is run with a toolbox/aggro deck with some elements of control. I like a deck that is full of answers to a variety of annoyances that can swing with a bunch of tiny little guys that got pumped full of +1/+1 dianabol and roid rage all over the battlefield.

This is likely to become my secondary main deck (hooray for oxymoronic statements!), so I will be looking for thoughts and suggestions on where and how to improve. I will be building on my description to explain some of my choices for whats in the deck, but also to point out some key cards that are not in the deck, as well as why they are not likely to be in it.

If you have any suggestions, feel free to comment. I would love ideas on what to add and why, as well (and especially) what to clip, and why. And of course, if you like the deck, or if you just happen to love Phyrexia, !

Updates Add

I am retiring this deck as of today. I have too many Commander decks and it's time to pare down what I've got so I can better focus on revising and maintaining what I do have. I will, however, definitely be looking into adding something with green in the future, or possibly even another Simic deck, maybe when Ravnica: Allegiance comes out!
