This deck focuses on using Meren of Clan Nel Toth's ability to recycle creature cards from the graveyard, creating a deck with a lot of synergy. Many of the creatures in this deck have abilities that are dependent on entering or leaving the battlefield (Acidic Slime, Eternal Witness, Sakura-Tribe Elder, etc.). Using Meren to play these from the graveyard again and again brings a lot of power to this deck. The numerous sac outlets (Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord, Korozda Guildmage, Xathrid Demon, etc.) bring even more utility (and synergy) to the deck. Finally, the deck is full of abilities that are triggered when creatures die, providing a third layer of synergy.

This deck has a couple of win-cons: an overwhelming attack of creatures led by Pathbreaker Ibex (after buffing the field with Bloodspore Thrinax and/or Mycoloth), or sacrificing creatures to either Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord or Xathrid Demon.
