Welcome to the Apocalypse!

Your one shop stop for eternal damnation and pain! Here at Z.A. Inc we aim to overrun your town with the undead and eat your brains! Please enjoy your stay!

The Five Rules of Necrowarfare

  1. No sponataneous awakenings
  2. No luring, killing, or raising bystanders or livestock
  3. Combatants face off at a predetermined place and time
  4. Combatants must have at least three limbs in play
  5. Headquarters are off limits

Competition has always existed between the siblings. In their aims to seize the city of thraben, they've brought themselves to new lows. They will crush all those who stand before them, even each other if it comes down to it.

"There will come a day so dark you will pray for death. On that day your prayers will be answered." -Minaldra, The Vizag Atum

Well. Here we go, ANOTHER zombie deck. This is a much more casual version of Dimir Zombies. We have big splashy spells and a High CMC with literally 0 infinite combos. That's right. ZERO. Our goal is not to mill anyone to death with Gravecrawler, or drain with Grave Titan and Nim Deathmantle. We are here to do one thing: Flood the board with zombies. We will drop huge zombies, give them flying and swampwalk, and murder everyone at the table. That's it. That's the strategy guys. You'll also notice that this is a budget build (Thank you midnight hunt!!!) most of the cards are under $1 because of re-prints (woooo). It still works, and it actually has some fun synergies.

Zombies do one thing really well: Synergy. So many zombies work well with other zombies! It's a super easy deck to pilot because of this. You just summon a ton of creatures, work with the ETB triggers, and then death triggers when they die!

ETB

We have 11 different creatures with ETB (Enter the Battlefield) triggers! Our goal is to abuse them with our recursion spells. Whether it's spawning tokens on ETB with Grave Titan or Gleaming Overseer, or you want to force a sacrifice with your Fleshbag Marauder, you can do so much stuff when your zombies hit the battlefield! Our recursion spells are going to be awesome here, giving us the opportunity to get 2-3 etb effects off one card, and some well known combos are built off of ETB effects. Infinite tokens with Grave Titan and Nim Deathmantle any one?

Let's Draw!

One particular synergy I enjoy is Dralnu, Lich Lord + Midnight Reaper. Swing with dralnu, have him get blocked, sac some creatures, and draw some cards! You can also use cards like Cleaver Skaab and Tomb Tyrant as well!

And 1!

This requires us to have Tormod, the Descerator out and a full graveyard. Then, you cast some spells. As many as you can. If you have a Rooftop Storm out you should be able to get 3-4 out at least if you have a full hand. Then you cast Reaping the Graves and grab 3-4 creatures (read zombies) from the grave. This gives you 3-4 more creatures to play AND 3-4 zombie tokens. doubling the creatures earned from the grave rob spell. It's a bit convoluted, BUT this is a casual deck, and this can be a fun way to fill your board quickly!

Literally the Best Card in the Deck

Rooftop Storm. If you've played Dimir or Esper zombies, you know the value this card brings. Yes, it is a 6 mana enchantment. BUT. If you have a hand full of zombies, or a grave full of zombies and something like Havengul Lich you are now getting literally infinite value. You can cast everything you have in hand or in the graveyard for 0 mana with the right cards. That's INSANE. If you can play this card, you should.

Updates Add

This deck was originally on its way to being a (relatively) competitive zombie tribal deck. With the release of Midnight Hunt that all changed. This deck is now pushed back to a casual zombie recursion deck. No infinite combos, not too many tutors, but a whole lot of milling and pulling zombies to the graveyard. Might make this into a primer, but it IS pretty straight forward and more casual.
