This deck is very much under construction.

Graveyard/Recursion. The idea is to get as many creatures into the graveyard as possible as quickly as possible. I initially avoided any form of self-mill and relied solely on things like Buried Alive, Jarad's Orders, and Old Stickfingers to fill the graveyard. The idea of losing valuable instants and sorceries that Nethroi, Apex of Death can't recur was anathema to me.

Consequently, even if I ramped hard early in the game, I often found myself not casting my commander because it didn't seem "worth it" if I couldn't pull stuff from the graveyard when I did so.

I even invested something like $30 in just two cards (which is a lot to me). My first game playing with Fauna Shaman and Dryad of the Ilysian Grove I got them out in the first two turns! Finally! I can show the world what this deck is supposed to do! Then I once again, got my butt stomped before I could cast my commander.

Fauna Shaman is a great card, but without the right support, it still isn't going to get you far with this kind of deck. You'll be dumping one specific creature into your graveyard each turn... but you'll be dead before you put anything on the battlefield. So I humbly came to terms with the fact that I needed to embrace self-mill in order to make this deck viable.

Now if I have Fauna Shaman early in the game I tutor for Golgari Grave-Troll discard that on the next turn to tutor for Ramunap Excavator. Next turn, instead of drawing a card I Dredge 6 cards into the graveyard to put the Grave Troll back in my hand, discard it with Fauna Shaman for Dryad of the Ilysian Grove. Rinse. Repeat. Now instead of twiddling my thumbs as I put specific creatures into my graveyard and nothing actually into play, I can put bulk creatures into the graveyard AND put creatures on the board that can protect my board state.

Primary mutate targets are Fleecemane Lion to make Nethroi hexproof and indestructible, Thrun, the Last Troll for similar reasons, or Drana, Liberator of Malakir to give Nethroi Flying and First Strike in addition to Deathtouch and Lifelink.

I'm open to all sorts of suggestions. My creature list is likely to change a lot. I'm still worried about recurring the non-creature cards from the graveyard. The ideal way to deal with that for me is to have Bala Ged Sanctuary   and a Bounce land in play, use Zuran Orb to sac the bounce land, play the bounce land from my graveyard with Ramunap Excavator and bounce Bala Ged and use the Bala Ged Recovery   to grab the necessary cards. But that might be too convoluted ¯_(ツ)_/¯
