Sisay Weatherlight Captain All-ternate Wins

Commander / EDH

kosta7

The idea of this deck is to jam in as many combos and win-cons as possible. It contains quite a few competitive cards, but is a notch or two weaker than the cedh level (partly due to the budget mana base). The deck is super fun since it has many lines to victory and can do some very powerful things: make infinite mana, take infinite turns, make opponents discard their hands, stop opponents from drawing and tutoring, counter all opponents' spells for the rest of the game, draw/mill/exile your whole deck, mill the opponents out, stasis lock the game, and take infinite combat steps.

Sisay is a great commander for this deck because her ability can tutor any legendary permanent, at instant speed. There are a lot of great targets for tutoring, but Maralen of the Mornsong, Zur the Enchanter, and Kaho Minamo Historian are go-tos because they also tutor cards that can get you just what you need.

Ways to win, roughly in order of viability:

  1. Jace, Wielder of Mysteries or Thassa's Oracle: wins the game on the spot with Demonic Consultation or Tainted Pact, or with the activated abilities of Hermit Druid or Divining Witch
  2. Infinite turns (isochron scepter + final fortune + gideon or sundial. Note can also isochron scepter + noxious revival (retrieving an extra turn spell) each turn)
  3. Knowledge Pool + Lavinia, Azorius Renegade or Teferi, Time Raveler (Counter all opponents' spells for the rest of the game). Note that players may be able to attack Teferi to remove him and escape the lock.
  4. Derevi+Najeela (+faeburrow elder or mono-g Selvala) Infinite combats
  5. Maralen of the Mornsong + Opposition Agent + wheel (opponents have no cards for rest of the game)
  6. Mill: --- Brain Freeze (Storm off and mill everyone. isochron scepter + dramatic reversal allows for infinite spell triggers.

Important lines and combos:

  1. If you activate hermit druid and have 2 other creatures + 3 mana blue mana, you can win by casting Dread Return with flashback by sacrificing the creatures. Bring back Thassa's oracle and win on the spot.
  2. Divining Witch can tutor up Jace, Wielder of Mysteries to your hand on end step, then on your turn you can win by casting Jace and activating Divining Witch again. 2b. Maralen of the Mornsong is a great target when Sisay is at 4 power: tutor Maralen before next turn, then draw demonic consultation and tutor jace with sisay for a 6 mana win. Another line: if you're tapped out but sisay is at 4 power when you untap with 7 mana: tutor Maralen on upkeep, draw and cast final fortune, then do the jace+consultation move on the extra turn.
  3. Isochron Scepter with Final Fortune imprinted, plus sundial of the infinite or Gideon: take infinite turns
  4. Isochron Scepter + Dramatic Reversal + artifacts: the famous infinite mana combo
  5. Isochron Scepter with Silence: cast on another player's upkeep to keep them from casting spells
  6. Wheel effect + Smothering Tithe/Narset/Notion Thief/Waste Not/Maralen of the Mornson(risky): get all the cards and mana. Note however that Smothering Tithe/notion thief don't interact with Day's Undoing because the turn ends before Smothering Tithe's triggered ability can go on the stack. Also Winds of Change doesn't combo with Waste Not because hands are shuffled back into the library, not discarded. In rare cases you might consider firing off a wheel with Maralen on the battlefield... you can break the symmetry since your commander can tutor up cards even if you don't have a hand. (maralen+opposition agent+wheel is one way to win a game of edh)
  7. Bolas's Citadel + Necropotence: this is a great way to run through your deck and assemble a wincon. You can effectively skip cards you don't want with Citadel, by activating Necropotence's ability for only 1 life. This combo is reasonably easy to tutor for with Zur+Sisay
  8. Final Fortune/Chance for Glory + Sundial of the Infinite/Day's undoing/Gideon/Angel's Grace (Take an extra turn and don't die)
  9. Doomsday: a 1-card combo. Most example doomsday piles use Bolas's citadel and/or jace:
  10. Underworld Breach: need a mana source (dark ritual, jeska's will, dramatic reversal) and a way to keep the graveyard full (wheels, brain freeze)
  11. Underworld Breach + Hermit Druid: can ramp back up to a win by repeatedly casting dark ritual, mana rocks and/or dramatic reversal, and some win con from the graveyard
  12. Underworld Breach + Sundial of the Infinite + Final fortune (+ wheel?): take a bunch of turns if graveyard is full enough
  13. Teferi + Doomsday on end step
  14. Doomsday + Necropotence (put final fortune or manamorphose+final fortune on top of doomsday pile, hold up two mana to draw and cast on end step and win on the extra turn)
  15. Ad Nauseam + (Angel's Grace or Gideon of the Trials) with one more mana should be able to win on that turn.
  16. Wishclaw Talisman + Opposition Agent: (cute) tutor for opposition agent, then steal their tutor when they activate wishclaw
  17. Opposition Agent + Maralen of the Mornsong + wheel: opponents get no cards for rest of the game
  18. if you can make infinite mana (all colors) with isochron scepter and one other artifact, there is a guaranteed win: cast sisay, tutor out inventor's fair and mox amber, then tutor wishclaw talisman with inventor's fair. With wishclaw there are a million ways to win at this point but brain freeze should do.
  19. Kinnan + smothering tithe treasures
  20. Najeela + Whispering Madness + Smothering Tithe
  21. Stasis: synergizes with a few cards -- Zur, Derevi, Smothering Tithe, Carpet of Flowers, Chain of Vapor, Red Elemental Blast/Pyroblast, Dramatic Reversal, Necropotence/Bolas's Citadel?

Ad nauseam+angel's grace lines:

Standard line: Ad nauseam+ angel's grace + 1 mana floating: (leave at least 1 card on bottom of library) Sol Ring into Arcane Signet into dark ritual, into fellwar stone. Cast dramatic reversal to untap 4 mana, then noxious revival the dramatic reversal on top of library, manamorphose to get dramatic reversal back in hand, then use the 4 mana to infinite with dramatic scepter and win however you want. If didn't play a land or have a legendary, can get the 1 mana necessary by drawing

Some doomsday lines:

  1. Bolas's Citadel-teferi-X-X-Jace
  2. manamorphose-final fortune-Jace-x-x
  3. Bolas's Citadel-aetherflux reservoir-noxious revival-x-x (to put doomsday on top) and continue the cycle. Note need 6 life after first doomsday to pull this off. Only requires 3 cards, so this is great if the first two cards of pile already got burned through
  4. final fortune or manamorphose into final fortune, win on next turn with bolas's citadel or Jace (see above)
  5. a wilder line: bolas's citadel - isochron scepter - manamorphose - final fortune - Gideon (cast manamorphose before isochron imprint resolves. take infinite turns attacking with gideon... note with this line if you've already cast final fortune then replace noxious revival with final fortune in the pile).
  6. Bolas's Citadel + Aetherflux reservoir + final fortune + Day's undoing + noxious revival... take basically infinite turns, win over a long time with aetherflux or sisay. Note will in end state will cast 3 spells a turn: final fortune noxious revival the day's undoing to the top, then day's undoing. (either final fortune or noxious is drawn at beginning of turn), Gaining 6 life and <6. So this is gaining life each turn. but eventually might run into a free counterspell because opponents are cycling their cards too. So may want to replace aetherflux with teferi or najeela, to try to win with combat 4/4 sisay before bolas's citadel burns you out)
  7. Bolas's Citadel + maralen of the mornsong + final fortune + day's undoing + noxious revival. Take infinite turns like in (f) but opponents won't have cards.
  8. if can produce two mana with mana rocks: Bolas's Citadel- aetherflux reservoir-isochron scepter-manamorphose-dramatic reversal . This requires 7+ life life, basically strictly worse than (c), but doesn't uses noxious revival.
  9. if only four cards because top card was already cast (final fortune), and aetherflux not available: Bolas's Citadel-noxious revival-(najeela or aetherflux or maralen)-Day's undoing
  10. If top two cards were manamorphose into final fortune, and no aetherflux is available, remaining 3 are: Bolas's Citadel-noxious revival-day's undoing. try to win with sisay.
  11. say selvala, explorer returned is on the battlefield. Can try to mill out opponents with 4 cards isochron scepter-dramatic reversal-silence-angel's grace. Activate selvala infinite times, drawing out opponent's decks.
