Lathril needs to be aggressive to produce those tokens so you can turn them sideways and make your opponents lose life and you gain life. This deck is built to synergize around that philosophy with combat in mind. You may not even need to use your commander's second ability if combat outright wins you the game first. There are multiple ways to untap creatures so you can tap them again using Lathril's ability.

COMBOS:

Staff of Domination + mana dork that can tap for at least five mana = Infinite mana to use on Staff of Domination abilities.

Umbral Mantle + a mana dork that can tap for at least four mana = Infinite mana can be used to untap Lathril and ten other elves when using your commander's second ability, or can sink mana into Ezuri Renegade Leader.

Seedborn Muse(or Quest for Renewal) + your commander + 10 elves = Tap and untap on opponents turn to win game with Lathril's second ability.

Lathril's second ability + Bolas's Citadel tap ability + Wound Reflection = Drains opponents for 40 life points in one turn.
