Intro

I got into Magic back in 2017 when Amonkhet had just come out, and as a lifelong enthusiast of anything to do with ancient Egypt, I saw the setting of the set and decided "okay I absolutely have to try Magic now," choosing Commander as my format of choice because the idea of building a deck around the abilities of a single creature (or in this case, the Gods) really appealed to me.

I was a bit disappointed to learn that save for Hazoret and Rhonas, none of the gods were particularly good, but then Hour of Devastation dropped three months later, and I was immediately drawn to The Scarab God and loved the idea of reanimation and zombie tribal, so here we are.

How to Play

It's a pretty standard zombie tribal strategy, with a focus on reanimation, removal and draining, and a slight focus on self-mill. Our commander, The Scarab God drains and scries, and the strength at which it does it is measured by how many zombies we have on board. We have options to buff up the zombies with the deck running six lords, cards like Gisa and Geralf, Zombie Apocalypse and The Eldest Reborn giving us access to our graveyard in case we want to reuse our zombies or get them out after milling them from the deck, and win conditions in the form of Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Endless Ranks of the Dead, Liliana, Dreadhorde General, Living Death and Mortal Combat.

Future changes?

All the cards in the Acquireboard are what I need to pick up IRL to complete this deck. I actually already have a complete Scarab God deck, but it differs a bit from this one as it has a majority of the cards in this list, but none of the stuff on the Acquireboard.

The cards in the Maybeboard is stuff that I wanted to include, but couldn't either due to me not being able to find a space for them, or the price point being a bit too high for me.
