Maybeboard

This used to be my go to commander deck at SCG Hobby Latrobe, but the crowd is not quite competitive enough to warrant playing it. The deck started out as a pretty casual big-dumb-idiots deck that had some cute interactions and that got to play oft-forgotten multi-colored creatures of days past. Over the past year I've been gradually adjusting card selections to make it a leaner combo engine that attempts to look innocuous enough to be left alone.

Typically, the goal is to generate infinite mana and then rebuy various ETB triggers. The most common route is to get both Deadeye Navigator + Palinchron into play soulbonded with one another. With at least three lands in play (one of which produces ) you can spend to flicker Palinchron. When it re-enters, it's untap trigger goes on the stack and you tap your last land to float mana, then proceed to untap. Wash, rinse, repeat. Then you can re-pair Deadeye Navigator with any other relevant ETB creature. The most straightforward win-con is to infinitely flicker Inferno Titan. To assemble this combo we have Tooth and Nail, Defense of the Heart, Sylvan Tutor and Worldly Tutor. However, Fierce Empath can assemble the combo all by itself - Empath enters, you search for Deadeye Navigator, cast Navigator bonded with Empath and flicker to find Palinchron. Once you have infinite mana you can pair Deadeye with Empath again and flicker to find Inferno Titan. Because of this combo in a can explosiveness, I've included both Green Sun's Zenith and Summoner's Pact to go search for Fierce Empath.

The second most common win-con is to generate infinite hasty attackers with Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Pestermite (Deceiver Exarch also works). Much like the first combo, we have a single card to search for the entire set-up: Imperial Recruiter. By casting Recruiter, searching for Kiki, you can cast Kiki and copy Recruiter to go search for either Exarch or Pestermite. If Animar, Soul of Elements has at least 2 counters, then you can execute the entire combo for only . Imperial Recruiter is easily the most versatile card in the deck, because you can search for almost any single creature by either searching for a relevant 2-power or less creature or finding Fierce Empath with it and then going digging for a bigger target.

Updates Add

In light of the Ban list update I've removed Prophet of Kruphix and replaced her with Soul of New Phyrexia. To be honest, I've been looking to add Soul in for awhile but could never find an appropriate cut. Sheldon and the gang finally gave me the opening I needed I guess...
