Rankle, Master of Pranks is a discard-themed group slug deck that aims to slow down opponents’ strategies by whittling down their board and hand. It breaks parity by relying on those downsides as strengths; creatures like Reassembling Skeleton, Gutterbones, Ophiomancer and Bloodghast are all-stars when trying to reanimate the things you sacrifice, and Bitterblossom and Dreadhorde Invasion are included in that strategy too. Sangromancer is incredible here as well.

There are a smattering of madness cards to assist in the discard theme like Big Game Hunterand Call to the Netherworld, which give value when Rankle makes his pilot discard. There are several enchantments in the deck that deal damage on discard like Liliana's Caress as well which gain value when decreasing opponents’ hand size. Bone Miser and Waste Not, especially when combined, are straight value here. Again Sangromancer is amazing.

Despite all of this, Rankle’s main win condition is usually Voltron. Blackblade Reforged, Lashwrithe, Commander's Plate, Fireshrieker and Cloak and Dagger are main enablers to take someone out with Commander damage, especially having taken out most of the opposition’s defenses. Fireshrieker in particular is fun for enabling Rankle’s abilities twice.

I like to tell my friends that Rankle is making all of us better at the game. Which spells are really important? How about which creatures? You gotta think about these things! I’m pretty sure they don’t believe me though.
