Dropped 2x Naturalize and add 2x Beast Within because it still counts as removal. But also works sooo awesome with undying if im loosing the creature battle.

Updated to cards that I actually have / can get. It's no WolfRun, but it should provide enough threat and LD to play a wurmcoil safely by turn 6, I hope. I'm still building, and I'm curious to see what this will do.
In theory it should be fun, in practice I'm not sure I'll draw enough Liquimetal Coating. Still trying to find a proper way to get more, like tutor or copy, within my budget. Metamorphs would be nice, but I have none, etc. any suggestions welcome

Update 3/3/12
broodwarjc, 13 years ago
Well yesterday was the first time I ran this deck at FNM, went 3-1 or 6-3 in game count.
Match 1: Spirits with Birthing pod: My opponent was trying out a new deck idea, ran good spirits, but the deck played to slow. He won game one for the simple fact that I got land flooded, 9 lands out of a 21 land deck is bad. I was discouraged that my first game went so bad, but after that I soundly tromped on him with 2 Messengers in the next game and Phantasmal Image copying a Geralf's Messenger in the last game. Record: 2-1
Match 2:Was against a RWG Werewolf deck, a new player to our store, knew how to play MTG, but played a slapped together deck. First game she got me down to one life (Sacred Wolf with 2 Spirit Mantles, and a Curse of Stalked Prey), but didn't have any blockers so I swung through with a [Geralf's Messenger and a Gravecrawler and followed up with sacking the messenger with Mortarpod to finish her off. Second game I kept her board clear with Tragic Slips and Mortarpod. Record: 2-0
Match 3:I was dreading this match, it was against one of the best players at the store and he was plying RG Wolfrun. Needless to say I drew like crap the two games we played and he kept dropping Slagstorm[]s. Game 1 I got two Skirsdag High Priests and 1 Mortarpod, but no zombies. Game 2 I got a Gravecrawler, 1 Mortarpod, and 1 Phantasmal Image. He once again dropped a Slagstorm on me and then threw out Inferno Titan for a psuedo-slagstorm every turn. On top of his good draws I got stuck with 8 lands, ugh :(. Record 0-2
Match 4: RDW variant, lots of creatures, but not many burn spells. I kept my opponents board clear of goblins and let him keep a Hellrider, which hurt, but not as much as Goblin Grenade + Reverberate would have. I was hesitant about this match not knowing if my zombies could keep up with a red deck's speed, but My zombies were just plain buffer than his goblins and that really hurt him. Record 2-0
My thoughts: The Skirsdag High Priest doesn't work with my meta which has a lot more aggro, I think it works for some people who have more control at their LGS. I found them to be disposable for the mortarpods and that is it. I am going to try running 2 Phyrexian Obliterators instead of 2 of the Skirsdag High Priest and if 21 lands isn't enough I will drop the last priest for another Swamp.
Deck changes: -2 Skirsdag High Priest +2 Phyrexian Obliterator
Any thoughts for how to combat Wolfrun? I got totally crushed in both games.

Got 2nd out of 12 at local FNM.
First match: Win; Mono Blue Mill - This game was easy. Sweeped both games in 5 turns without taking any damage and barely getting milled.
Second Match: Win; Blue Green Aggro/Control - This deck was weird, It was mostly aggro with some control. It used cards like Delver of Secrets Flip, Invisible Stalker, Skinshifter, and Runechanter's Pike. He would have won, but I was able to Traitorous Blood his Delver equipped with the Pike and swing for game.
Third Match: Win; Tempered Steel - This deck was pretty fast and would swarm with low cost creatures like Memnite and Signal Pest. Luckily I was able to Arc Trail his weenies before it got out of hand and then swung away with Chandra's Phoenix Stormblood Berserker and Hero of Oxid Ridge.
Fourth Match: Loss; Lingering Spirits - This deck ended up getting first. It was very good. Drogskol Captain mixed with Geist of Saint Traft and tons of spirit tokens is very hard to deal with. I managed to win the first game quickly, but the second game he sideboarded in a play set of Celestial Purge and Flashfreeze. That was very hard to deal with. The last game was disappointing. I was forced to mulligan down to four due to no land/all land each time so he whooped me.
I did open an Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite from one of my packs, so I believe I am the true winner though haha.

Update #10
The Messian, 13 years ago
Swapped the Think Twice with Cathedral Membranes. Wish I could find a cheap artifact or artifact creature that created some card draw, but sadly I don't think there are any. The Membranes are in for some defense as well to help get Metalcraft in effect. Also another creature for the Arcitects to make blue. I REALLY NEED SOME HELP WITH THE SIDEBOARD!!!

Maybe less of the 2 or fewer and more plains? or islands.. dunno tough to say
Dromar39, 13 years ago
went 0-2-1: deck wasn't bad, I noticed some changes that i really should of thought of prior. So... Despise needs to be mainboard, Grave Titan isnt really that good at the moment, Inferno Titan is much better. Olivia Voldaren is better than i thought.
FNM REPORT
mikedh1, 13 years ago
FNM REPORT: 60 players at T and M cards, against some of the better, to semi best players in Spokane, WA. 6 round tourney.
Went 4-2 vs the field.
Match 1: Blue Shape Anew, Blight Steel.
Was a hard, bad draw, since nobody plays that deck, except him. And my deck doesn't have an answer for Blight Steel. Would Sideboard Traitorous Blood, if more played the deck.
Lost 0-2.
Match 2: Epic Battle against Blue Delver. Won 2-1.
Lost 1st game. Then sided Autumn's Veil, and Surgical Extraction, which didn't do anything for me 2nd game. But still won anyways. Then I won game 3, where the sideboard cards, really helped a lot.
Match 3: A match up, I probably would have won, against Mono White Humans. Lost 0-2
Game 1, foe got out all 4 Champions by turns 3. But despite foe getting ultimate christmas draw, I still just barely lost.
Game 2 Sideboarded 2 ratchet bombs, 2 Slagstorms, 2 Naturalizes, and didn't draw any of my sideboard cards, to deal with his swarming, and his angelic destinies. While opponent drew, got out, all 4 sideboarded in a human creature that has protection from werewolves. If not for opponents insane good drawing luck, I would have probably won both games.
Match 4: A easy 2-0 win vs a freshly purchased starter deck.
Match 5: Kessig Wolf Run. Won 2-1, in a battle til turn 4 of final turn 5 clock put on game 3 of the match.
I easily won game 1.
Foe easily won game 2.
Game 3 went to down to the wire. with 1 more turn left on the 5 turn clock, with 9 life compared to foe's 13 life, with a flipped Mayor, 1 token, 1 Immerwolf, 1 flipped Huntmaster, 1 flipped Daybreak Ranger, and with foe having 1 Prime Time, 1 3/3 creature, and with Wolf Run, and a sht load of mana, that was enough to pump Prime, trample kill me, Foe attacked, with everything, and I moonmisted, and then killed him on turn 5,of the 5 turn clock, for the win.
Match 6: Won 2-0 vs a monoblack Zombie deck. Kept on killing Foes zombies, until I won.
So went 4-2 overall vs the field. And 3-2 vs the better players, better decks.
If not for the really bad luck against the human deck, I probably would have won, gone 5-1 vs the field.

Trying out some pump cards like Talons of Falkenrath and Mutagenic Growth, lately have been winning with this deck by turn 6 and i think that these will speed up the process, A LOT.
New Setup
Ramagogi, 13 years ago
Deck was feeling WAY too slow in quite a few cases, removed Thraben Doomsayers and replaced with Mirran Crusaders. Also pulled two Sorin, Lord of Innistrads from a box today felt lucky as hell and put them in. Played another standard tourney tonight. Went up against a B/U spirit deck with swords of war and peace. Held up well to its pro white, but still couldn't dish out enough, did manage to handle the Geist of Saint Draft well. Lost to a Fiend Hunter/Oblivion Ring and Sun Titan deck and not a single one of my 6 creature destroy cards came to save the day. Still happy with this deck, it is evolving and it's very fun. People always comment on my Ravenous Demon Flip/Skirsdag High Priest combo. Also gonna get a playset of the Human that prevents spells and abilities to be activated during my turn by opponents.
Charmbreaker Devils
Godzbreath, 13 years ago
So I removed a single Galvanic Blast to include Charmbreaker Devils. I have to say that it is hilarious the things that this card can do. I had multiple instances during playtesting and actual play where I would be constantly recurring Timely Reinforcements, which basically makes you invincible unless they deal with Charmbreaker. I've also had some success recurring Slagstorms, which do not manage to kill Charmbreakers. The only "bad" recurrence for Charmbreaker is Day of Judgment, and even that isn't so terrible if you really need to clear the board on a string of dead draws. Overall I am pleased with the addition of this card. I can't say I miss the Blast at all.
Slight changes
jmckee85, 13 years ago
Took out 1x Mikaeus, the Lunarch because it was too slow and moved 1x Sword of War and Peace to the sideboard for another Increasing Devotion and Honor of the Pure. Took out x2 Sword of Feast and Famine from the sideboard because I never used them and x1 Celestial Purge to make room for x4 Divine Offering mainly for Inkmoth Nexus. I think this will help the deck more in the later game, also have been thinking about taking out the Oblivion Ring's for another Increasing Devotion, an Elspeth Tirel, and another Hero of Bladehold since the token generation and battlecry is pretty unreal in this deck. Will keep as is for now but let me know if you think adding these changes will be better... thanks.

crazy damage deck :D
Fresh Cards = Improvement
machete, 13 years ago
Mainboard:
-1 Boneyard Wurm, -1 Festerhide Boar, -1 Harvest Pyre, -2 Mutagenic Growth, -2 Wild Hunger, -2 Forest, -1 Mountain
+1 Strangleroot Geist, +1 Predator Ooze, +1 Vorapede, +1 Young Wolf, +2 Hunger of the Howlpack, +1 Caravan Vigil, +2 Rootbound Crag, +1 Kessig Wolf Run
Sideboard:
-1 Plummet, -1 Manic Vandal, -1 Semblance Anvil, -1 Melt Terrain, -2 Wooden Stake, -1 Wreath of Geists
+2 Beast Within, +2 Combust, +2 Whipflare, +1 Nihil Spellbomb
The listed price of the deck increased from $24.49 to $47.82. Essentially doubled the mainboard price with ten cards. Worth it, in my opinion.

Got Huntmasters
Blkscottishcyclops, 13 years ago
Replaced the Inferno Titan, Bird of Paradise and Immerwolf with Huntmaster of the Fells Flip and Wolfbitten Captive Flip. Daybreak Ranger Flip has now been moved to sideboard, running a full playset of Moonmist, Incinerate is being replaced by Whipflare and Instigator Gang Flip is being replaced by Pyreheart Wolf

Game 1: Turn 5: Enduring Renewal, Blasting Station, Myr Moonvessel
Game 2: Mulligan to 6: Turn 6: Enduring Renewal, Blasting Station, Memnite
Game 3: Turn 7: Enduring Renewal, Thermopod, Goblin Arsonist
Game 4: Turn 10: Enduring Renewal, Thermopod, Memnite/Ornithopter, Grapeshot
Game 5: Mulligan to 4: Turn 11: Enduring Renewal, Thermopod, Goblin Arsonist, Blasting Station
Overall, I'm not consistently drawing the cards that I need. Functions as a mediocre casual aggro deck.

Jake, 13 years ago
Sturmgeist is looking better and better, but I'm concerned about Lu Xun. Avenger is also not as steady a hit as I'd like.
shashou, 13 years ago
Added Voltaic Construct and Karn, Silver Golem for infinite mana combo with Doubling Cube (as long as you have at least 10 mana to start with) Swapped Citanul flute for Planar Portal (allows for searching ANY card, no need to reveal) Changed sideboard to fit proper rules
CenturyX, 13 years ago
Not playing the normal Zur strategy many use, which is to put no creatures and surround Zur with support cards. I'm not really into making it impossible for people to play, but I have implemented many aspects of others so in certain situations I can make it very difficult to beat if someone lets me linger. I enjoy seeing how other decks play out as well as my own.
