Bringing back the OG deck tech

Removing a combo that has been in this deck for the last 8 years or so... just don't care to win that way with this deck, more fun to see my opponent's libraries slowly disappear.
+Jace's Erasure \\ -Mindcrank: This deck doesn't do much damage in the first place and if I'm not using it for a combo, goodbye Mindcrank, welcome back Jace's Erasure from the original deck list.
+Sage's Row Denizen \\ -Duskmantle Guildmage: Again, if not for the combo, why is it here? Don't wanna win by drain :( Welcome back Sage's Row Denizen from the original deck list. Also works pretty nicely with Oona, Queen of the Fae rather than Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker as the commander

September 2025 update
ZoomZoom, 2 weeks ago
So far the list has been working very well, at least in my pods. It can't really keep up with super-fast decks, but otherwise it seems that given enough time it will consistently pop off. Think I'm going to replace Creeping Renaissance with Gravepurge, as it's much easier to cast, and additionally can serve as "graveyard protection" in a pinch. Will hopefully at some point get to writing a proper primer.

I need to either swap out the enchantments for creatures with similar effects, or get enchantment return.
Enchantments are better than creatures

MTGA playtesting results

I've been playing this deck for a many matches now online and I've noticed some cards that feel kind of weak compared to the others.
Ashaya, Soul of the Wild it's just a big creature that I almost never play as it's too easy to remove.
Howling Moon is limited on usage, i don't get tokens often and the +2/+2 is often unused
Boneyard Lurker underutilized by me for both creature and mutate
Burgeoning is only really good if you have it out on turn 1 or 2 and have the lands to even play
The deck isn't bad in a 1-vs-1 format, it's strong against token decks and lower cmc deck but is weakest against discard and other hard control decks but you could eek out a win against those with the return to battlefield effects to keep the pressure on. I should consider some creature lands as a backup damage source. It could use some more card draw and ramp though, both for the bigger cost things and to assure you have some mana left over for your protections spells and to thin the deck a little bit to make sure that you have some bangers instead of drawing a land.

You're fired! : Cost Cuts
adventfaith, 2 weeks ago
I'm looking into cutting out some cards to reduce this to a more budget friendly deck. so i'm going to cap the cost of a single card in the deck to $10-$15 at most(per tcgplayer average market).
So you're getting let go due to cost cutting:
I do own a few of these cards, so i'll move them into the maybeboard as they are replaced so you have upgrade options
