Yidris, Semi-Controlled Chaos

Commander / EDH*

BerendBoer

I like chaotic games of Magic, but I don't like playing cards like Grip of Chaos or Timesifter. I'll be very entertained when I play against a deck like that every once in a while, but I'm just Spikey enough that for my own deck I want something focused on winning (even if it is through a convoluted combo) rather than just causing randomness. Which brings me to Cascade: an amazing mechanic that surprises you every time, but that you can build around nonetheless.

This deck is build so it is pretty hard to whiff on your cascade triggers. No counterspells, no wrath effects that blow up your own board. And a few scry cards and cheaper-than-their-mana-cost cards to cheat the system. But the cards you'll be cascading into are still pretty cool and silly, like Unexpected Results or various clones.

(And yeah, it is still possible to attack twice with a double-striking Yidris only for your 9 mana spell's quadruple cascade to spit out Soothsaying, Sensei's Divining Top, Sylvan Library and a second double strike granter. But at that point I'll be on the floor laughing, so I won't mind much.)
