Sun Quan, Lord of Wu Discussion

Heyo, I'm not huge on mono decks either; but I'm building a casual/chaos Urza, Lord High Artificer deck right now.

I'm wondering what your wincon is? Commander damage? I'd include Sun Quan, Lord of Wu if you can to get more beats in. Stormtide Leviathan is another silly one. Both of those go great with Bident of Thassa and Coastal Piracy

39 land is high, but you do have a heavy control theme so youd hate to miss land drops. Could maybe get away with 36 land

Have fun!

Hej hej,

I am Corbeau and just started to put my decks on here. I play casually with a nice playgroup. We don't play very competetive and love combo decks. I am usually the person with nearly no removal because I always think that if it doesn't help my strategy it isn't a card for my deck and I want the others to have fun, too. Also I feel restricted in my creativity when I think about the meta or so. So quite often I am in a race to get my deck going and keep my stuff because others don't hesitate do remove everything on my side. I love weird and janky deck strategies. The decks I have at the moment are the ones I play and the one that survived all the building of decks. Very often it is more brewing than playing because we don't get together that often and the EDH community in my city is very competetive. I prefer an environment in which people have fun and don't flame each other all the time.

My Decks at the Moment:

EDH: Alesha, Who Smiles at Death (Aristrocrats) Prime Speaker Zegana (Draw Combo) Prime Speaker Vannifar (Podless Pod) Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons (-1/-1 Counters) Atraxa, Praetors' Voice (Any Counters] Kess, Dissident Mage (Spellslinger) Ghave, Guru of Spores (+1/+1 Counters) Kambal, Consul of Allocation (Lifedrain Prison) Omnath, Locus of Rage (Landfall/Elemental) Daxos the Returned (Enchantress)

Oathbreaker: Saheeli, Sublime Artificer (Artifacts) Jace, Memory Adept (Milling) Liliana, Death's Majesty (Zombies) Liliana of the Dark Realms (Ramp/Shades) Kaya, Ghost Assassin (Flicker/Token)

Former Decks (I hope I remember all):

EDH: + Atraxa, Praetors' Voice (All cards with counters) Sun Quan, Lord of Wu (Milling) + The Scarab God (Milling) + Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive (Only power 1 or less/Tokens) Talrand, Sky Summoner (Spellslinger) Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet (gravepact) Kozilek, the Great Distortion (Eldrazi) Sidisi, Brood Tyrant (Milling) Sidisi, Brood Tyrant (Reanimator) Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle (Historic/Reanimator) Nin, the Pain Artist (Artifacts) Nin, the Pain Artist (Milling) Odric, Lunarch Marshal (White Weenie) + Masako the Humorless (Historic/ Throne of the God-Pharaoh ) Padeem, Consul of Innovation (Artifacts) + Kiku, Night's Flower ( Kiku's Shadow / Ragged Veins ) Grenzo, Havoc Raiser (Spellsnatching) Sydri, Galvanic Genius (Beautiful Art/Control) Tatyova, Benthic Druid (Beautiful Art/Copy/Draw/Token) Karlov of the Ghost Council (Lifedrain) Obzedat, Ghost Council (Lifedrain) + Obzedat, Ghost Council (Flicker/Token) Akiri, Line-Slinger / Ludevic, Necro-Alchemist (Artifacts/Non-Voltron)

Sadly many of my decks didn't work because of the meta and power level in my playgroup but some were so much fun to play. Favorites marked with + at the front.

I will try to upload the decklists of my current decks. If you have questions about any of the former decks or anything just ask.

Love and happyness Corbeau

okay, here are some "win-cons" I found. you could just go for a big creature like Trench Gorger , Stormtide Leviathan , Aggressive Mammoth , Aurochs Herd , Carnage Tyrant , Child of Gaea , Cloudthresher , Essence of the Wild could be fun, Force of Nature is really big, Frost Titan , Grunn, the Lonely King , Guile , Hydra Broodmaster (this is one of my all time favorites since it was one of my first cards), Nessian Wilds Ravager , Sagu Mauler (a card I wanted to play for a long time but didn't have the right deck for it, but this seems a perfect fit), Terra Stomper (of course, a classic), Gigantosaurus , Primeval Force , Thornling or maybe Vorapede

yes, I went through almost every 5 and 6 cost minion in green and blue. I'm sure there are other cards that could win you the game out there. but this is what I found

you could also use something that is very evasive ofcourse. like Sun Quan, Lord of Wu or Archetype of Imagination . or something different like a combo with Deadeye Navigator , or counter things and make Draining Whelk really big.

@Kederekt Thank you for suggestions. Archetypes have too weak body and they are more supportive. Playing them without cascade doesn't change much on the board. I already got trample enablers (eg. Pathbreaker Ibex or Kessig Wolf Run) or even better evade (eg. Sun Quan, Lord of Wu or Rogue's Passage).

I had a deck like this back in 2013 when Arcane Adaptation wasn't arround. These two were really good: Unnatural Selection Imagecrafter

Also prowl spells work with Ultimus as he is a Rogue: Notorious Throng Knowledge Exploitation

You are also missing 4 lands: Mishra's Factory Blinkmoth Nexus Elephant Graveyard Swarmyard

For bonus points I used: Sun Quan, Lord of Wu - best way is to finish them off with fish riding horses

Back from the Brink - this is the only? way to get creatures back in mono U

Artificial Evolution - you can change Swarmyard to regen Merfolks, Wizards etc.

I remember not playing with Scion of Oona as it disabled all my Regens and pumps from lands Higure, the Still Wind seems like a fun addition also

Cheers!

Homelessguy Thanks for the suggestions. Sleep isn't a bad idea but I'm not sure I like the one-off effect as opposed to a static ability. Levitation is probably closer but I want to be swinging before Turn 4.

DRmagic2017 Invisible Stalker was in the deck but I took it out because it doesn't do anything other than be unblockable. The hexproof is useless because no one is using their removal on my 1/1; they'll save it for the Ninja. Sun Quan, Lord of Wu is powerful but at 6 Mana it's too expensive for what I'm trying to do.

Mattrockj Rogue's Passage is a good suggestion. But 1) it's so expensive to activate 2) I'm very conscious of how many colorless lands I run and 3) giving one creature unblockable isn't really where I'm trying to be. But I'm sure that's just me and that most Yuriko lists have the card.

Thanks for the suggestions folks. The deck is a lot of fun and can win very quickly if not kept in check.

Hello! I truly like the deck. A couple of ideas. First: Invisible Stalker - another unblockable creature. Second: Sun Quan, Lord of Wu. I think horsemanship isn't popular so your creatures won't be blocked 99%.

I've enjoyed 1 drops with late game utility like Deadeye Tracker and Mistcaller. I'm not sold on Quietus Spike, Inkfathom Infiltrator, or Thassa, God of the Sea since they seem very mana intensive for what they do. I might consider Keeper of Keys over Sun Quan, Lord of Wu as you can easily take back the monarchy with unblockable things or bouncing it back to your hand. Proteus Staff looks really awesome.I have a list on my deckling, if you want to compare, but it's a little more budget friendly.
