Zombie tribal with graveyard recursion fun! Simple to command, difficult to stop! This deck is both tribal mass army, and infinite combo win fun. It does not have a lot of disruption. Nor does it try to be the best deck possible, just a good on theme deck that has a lot of scary presence when it works.

Pump, pump, pump it up!

The deck sports a grand total of 7 power/toughness boosting Lords. For a combined +8/+7, deathtouch, undying, and making your other Zombie spells cost less. The deck can make tokens using 7 different permanents each with repeatable effects and 1 that isn't easily repeated. This means your undead hordes are plentiful and always brutally big. We can also get Menace, make a 2/2 zombie token, and be able to put a Zombie back to our hand from our Lords, and Zombie Master gives us both Swampwalk and Regenerate.

On top of that we have a Door of Destinies, a long term plan to eke out extra strength by getting a +1/+1 boost for every Zombie we cast after we get the Door into play. But if that is too slow, we have the double-edged sword of Coat of Arms. An immediate +1/+1 to each creature for each other creature it shares a creature type with. Beware of use against other tribal decks!

Generals, Gisa and Geralf

Our General, the brother-sister duo of Gisa and Geralf, are fairly costed with solid 4/4 stats. Their ETB triggered ability puts 4 cards from the top of your library into your graveyard. They also grant you the right to cast 1 zombie from your graveyard during each of your turns. This is one of the most powerful parts of the deck. You can sacrifice or lead one of your monsters into combat without worry of its demise, as you will always be able to bring it back.

We have an abundance of drawing in this deck. So the earlier incarnations of this deck that used a multitude of creature based ETB effects to self mill are redundant. I find these to be a worthy input for budget building, and somewhat easy to remove when the deck starts to need serious cuts. But if you really want to go in on that style of play they can be a very interesting way to make a toolbox deck work.

Spare parts for Budget Build Self Milling.

All-S.T.A.R.S.

Our powerhouse creatures include the trio of zombies that love to eat other zombies. And some of the nastiest things Wizards won't ever make the mistake of reprinting. Protip, sacrifice Diregraf Colossus and then recast him late game to reshape him into a ginormous Zombie giant thing. Like a, Colossus, or something.

  • Carrion Feeder: Sac 1 monster for a permanent +1/+1 counter.
  • Phyrexian Ghoul: Sac 1 monster for a temporary +2/+2 boost for the turn.
  • Nantuko Husk: Sac 1 monster for a temporary +2/+2 boost for the turn.
  • Phyrexian Crusader: Protection from Red and from White plus it has Infect.
  • Marauding Knight: Protection from White and gets +1/+1 for each Plains in play.
  • Diregraf Colossus: When it ETBs, it gets +1/+1 counter for each Zom in your graveyard.
  • Cleaver Skaab: Sac 1 zombie to get 2 token copies. How many Gravecrawlers do you want?
  • The Scarab God: At your upkeep each foe loses X, you scry X. X = number of Zombies you control.

Evasion?

Who needs evasion when you have numbers?! Well, we do still. I thought about Filth and Wonder, the graveyard Incarnations for Swampwalk and Flying, but found them to be hit or miss in effect.

Token Production

  • Cryptbreaker: Pay and get a 2/2. Also requires discarding a card from your hand.
  • Diregraf Colossus: Get a 2/2 when you cast a Zombie spell.
  • Lich Lord of Unx: Pay and get a 1/1.
  • Cemetery Reaper: Pay and get a 2/2. Also requires exiling a creature from a graveyard.
  • Endless Ranks of the Dead: At your upkeep get X 2/2, where X is half the number of zombies you control rounded down.
  • Cleaver Skaab: Pay and get 2 tokens of 1 sacrificed zombie. Works on generic tokens!
  • Liliana, Death's Majesty: Activate her +1 and get a 2/2.
  • The Scarab God: Pay and get a 4/4 copy of a creature in a graveyard. Turn 3 Magic Christmasland Hand

  • Turn 1: Swamp, Sol Ring

  • Turn 2: Swamp, Diregraf Colossus, Gravecrawler
  • Turn 3: Phyrexian Altar, win condition combo piece

Your win condition combo cards are Bontu's Monument, Plague Belcher, Diregraf Captain, Vengeful Dead, Crypt Ghast, and Lich Lord of Unx.

You sacrifice the Gravecrawler for a mana, and use that mana to recast Gravecrawler, netting you 1 zombie token. Repeat enough times while sacrificing the zombie tokens to pay for your win condition combo card and any effects needed from them.

On turn 3 you will have 10 total cards. You only need 7 to pull this off in the right order. If you want to focus on this combo more, you could include Zulaport Cutthroat and Blood Artist to bump that up to 8 win condition combo cards. If you find yourself without a win condition combo card, you can use any of the following, assuming you have access to inifinite mana from the Gravecrawler+Diregraf Colossus+Phyrexian Altar.

I sometimes run this deck with a Diabolic Revelation to seek out exactly the cards I need. Or a Behold the Beyond will work.
