What is God's Judgment?

God's Judgment is a tap-out Black-White midrange/control deck that uses hand disruption, removal, and card draw in the early game, and uses finishers to close out the game. Since many of the decks in modern are either trying to win with creatures or kill creatures, we have an upper-hand against many decks in the current meta. This deck is still a work in progress and likely has many revisions that it will go through over time. If you want to see how this deck is doing, I have a log that entails all games I've played so far with this deck below the description.

Deck Origin

As someone who has been playing Mono-black midrange for a while now, there are various matchups where I would have a huge advantage, however, thanks to cards like leyline of scanctity I would lose games because I have no interaction with them (Pro black cards like Mirran Crusader can also be hard to deal with). I've always known that white is great at dealing with these types of cards, but a mono-white deck usually lacks the interaction and card draw I want. So, I decided that I should build a WB deck, and since I am a lover of midrange and control decks, my quest led me to create this build.

Why Not Add Another Color?

I have a few reasons as to why this is a BW deck, and not a wedge deck like Abzan, Mardu Control, or Esper Control.

  1. Budget: I thankfully own this list already, but this deck is already very expensive, and I'd prefer not to dump more of my wallet into MTG then I already have.

  2. Strengths & Weaknesses: If I were to add red to this deck, I could play cards like Chandra, Torch of Defiance, Nahiri, the Harbinger, and Ajani Vengeant. If I were to add blue to this deck, I'd be able to play cards like Snapcaster Mage in order to reuse spells. If I added green, I could play Abzan Midrange with cards like Tarmogoyf and Grim Flayer. However the issue here is that playing a 3 color manabase often ends up shocking you repeatedly, and makes you weak to aggressive decks while you are trying to keep up with them. Speaking of keeping up, there are many situations where you lack one color of mana, and lose a game because of it, as opposed to playing 2-color which achieves easy mana fixing. In addition, playing a 3-color manabase makes you extremely reliant on non-basic lands, so cards like Blood Moon can beat you more easily.

  3. New Archetype: Black-White Control was a thing in standard not too long ago, but the deck has never really found a place in modern, and the only other real BW decks in the format are D&T & Tokens, which are already well established midrange archetypes. With this deck, I have more freedom to brew and come up with my own ideas.

Opening Hands

When you begin a game with this deck, there are a few things you'll want in your opener:

  1. Lands. You should have at least 2 lands in your opener, this is just to make sure that you can cast your spells on curve. Also, make sure that they match the colors of the spells in hand, if you can't cast your spells, you can't really keep the hand.

  2. Interaction. You should try to get a discard spell and/or some removal in your hand, that way you can control the board in the early game, and finish the game out once the board is cleared out. If you don't have any interaction in your hand, you likely can't keep it.

  3. Finishers & Card Draw. Having some of these cards in your hand can be awesome, but they aren't necessary, as we can usually draw into a Gideon and then close out the game from there.

Start Of The Game

Now that you have your hand, here's what's next.

  1. Discard. Do what you can to cast your discard on turn 1 if possible, as it will notify you of what your opponent has, and then from there, you can evaluate what needs to be removed and what doesn't.

  2. Losing life is ok. It's ok to play cards like Night's Whisper against aggressive decks, the card draw is going to accelerate your plays much farther ahead, and can give you the edge so we can play something like Baneslayer Angel.

  3. This is a tap-out control deck, which means besides maybe holding up something like Fatal Push, we want to be dropping bombs on the board and beating our opponent.

You've Gotten This Far, What's Next?

Since the deck has a lot of card draw and stabilizing cards, cards like Gideon and Liliana will often just win you games once you drop them.

enter image description here

Marsh Flats: The WB fetchland, this card is able to fetch any of the lands we need to have to achieve color fixing so we don't get stuck with only 1 color and can play around Blood Moon. (Also powers up Fatal Push)

Concealed Courtyard: Being able to avoid life loss if we can turns 1-3 besides our own spells is something we are very interested in.

Field of Ruin: You could play either this or Ghost Quarter, and honestly both have their merits. Quarter is allowed to deal with things like tron pieces the turn it comes into play, but we are a control deck, and want to hit our land drops, since sometimes using that quarter makes us lose anyway.

Godless Shrine: The WB shockland, I tried to only include a couple so we don't have to deal with constantly losing life for no real reason.

Shambling Vent: The only true tap-land in this deck, Shambling vent may not look like much, but it has won me too many games to not give it credit. Vent is exceptional and is well worth playing all 4 copies.

Swamp & Plains: There are currently a lot of basics in this deck, (becuase of Blood Moon) and since we are a 2-color deck it doesn't have to hurt us as much as it would other decks.

enter image description here

Inquisition of Kozilek: A modern staple that hits the vast majority of cards that are played in the format, and we don't even have to pay life to use it. This card is exceptionally good at getting rid of early game plays and threats and is currently played as a 2-of since it is so powerful, but we need other slots as well.

Thoughtseize: The best discard spell in modern, Thoughtseize hits anything and everything that we need to, with the mere cost of paying 2 life. Currently a 3-of since it hits everything and the life loss is usually fine since we can get rid of anything we need to.

Collective Brutality: Currently run as a one-of, Collective is outstanding against aggressive decks like burn and zoo, as well as combo and control decks.

Liliana of the Veil: Lilli gives us a Necrogen Mists as her +1, which can be instrumental in against slower or grindier decks.

enter image description here

Night's Whisper: The ideal turn 2 play, whisper makes sure that we maintain card advantage early in the game so that we can make our bigger plays in the mid-late game. Many times I've played this card and received whatever answer was needed to the board state. A big reason to play many copies is because without cards like Serum Visions and Snapcaster Mage we need as much card advantage as we can get.

Wall of Omens: I've played many games with this deck, and early game card draw can be the difference between winning and losing. Wall of Omens gives us a big blocker to stop cards like Goblin Guide and Bloodghast while also cycling itself in the process.

enter image description here

Path to Exile: Path is a 1 cmc remove anything card that can get rid of almost any creature that modern could throw at us. Path is definitely worse in the early game then the late game since it can ramp your opponent.

Fatal Push: A modern staple, Fatal Push works with our Marsh Flats and Field of Ruins, as well as cards like Lingering Souls, in order to kill off the vast majority of creatures currently played in the modern format.

Collective Brutality: Collective has the ability to kill creatures like Goblin Guide, however this Disfigure is only sorcery speed.

Liliana of the Veil: Lilli gives us a Chainer's Edict as her -2, and works very well against top-down decks like Jund.

Wrath of God: Currently running 2 of them in the maindeck, wrath is usually guaranteed to get rid of any board state that troubles you.

Damnation: With so many decks running Surgical Extraction these days, it's good to have some split on the wraths so you aren't caught with your pants down if they get one of them.

enter image description here

Lingering Souls: Souls is typically an outstanding board stabilizer that has flashback and works with our other finishers to win the game. Currently run as a 2-of since it is so effective in the current meta, but against decks like Tron it kinda falls flat.

Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet: Kalitas is a game-winning 3/4 that works well with cards like Fatal Push to give us free creatures that we can either attack/block with, or feed back to Kalitas to make it bigger. Also, If you wrath a board with a bunch of creatures on it with kalitas out, all the creatures get exiled and you get that many zombies, it's ridiculous. Kalitas can also deal with threats like prized amalgum.

Baneslayer Angel: While I had my doubts about whether or not to play this card, Baneslayer Angel has won my heart over. This card is very effective against many decks in the format becuase it does not die to Fatal Push, and matches up well with everything from Gurmag Angler to Reality Smasher. It also beats decks like burn and such since lifelink on a flying 5/5 is very effective at killing opponents. I would likely have played Lyra Dawnbringer over this if I played any other Angels, but since I don't I get free protection from cards like Glorybringer.

Liliana of the Veil: Lili is very adaptable and is good against a lot of decks in the format. As you probably know, Lilli works outstanding well against decks like Jund and Bogles that want to win the game with few powerful creatures. She also works well against decks like Tron and Ad Nausseum since she widdles down the hand of the opponent piece by piece until there isn't much left. The downside to playing 2-copies of her is that with decks like goblins that like to spam creatures onto the board (especially tokens), she can have little effect on the board state.

Elspeth, Sun's Champion: This walker wins games, whether its through wrathing a big board of threats, or filling ours with 1/1s, Eslpeth is incredibly good at what she does.

Gideon Jura: Whether its a Death's Shadow, a Reality Smasher, or a big board of Elves, gideon has your back. This walker can buy you turns, kill tapped enemy threats, and can be his own finisher if we need him to be.

Gideon of the Trials: Played as a two-of, This small gideon can keep us from being attacked by big threats, can become a smaller but effective threat, and can also give us great game against a deck like Ad Nausseum.

Gideon Blackblade: A one-of, gideon is a 4/4 on our turn only, and can power up our other combat walkers and creatures to give them some extra power.

enter image description here

Disenchant: Disenchant is one of the reasons to play white for me, as it gets rid of cards like Chalice of the Void, Blood Moon, Leyline of Sanctity, etc. It's currently run as a 1-of since it works well in a lot of matchups.

Collective Brutality: Against aggressive decks like burn, we need to be able to kill creatures while being life-cost effective. Playing a third copy of this means that we can swap out removal for non-creature matchups like Ad Nauseeum for more gas.

Surgical Extraction: This card is a great way to get rid of anything in an opponent's graveyard, such as Tron lands, or a valakut the mountain pinnacle. This card can also make your opponent scoop if you get a combo piece, such as ad nausseum.

Fulminator Mage: Through my games with Tron I've come to realize I need more hate for it then just Quarters, running three of the mages to ensure maximum effect can be reached.

Rest in Peace: While rest in peace may be sort of a non-bo since we do play Lingering Souls, I've found in the matchups where it matters it is a godsend. Being able to disrupt strategies like dredge and storm with a single card is wonderous.

Flaying Tendrils: The best version of Infest (in my opinion), Tendrils functions similarly to Anger of the Gods, except unlike Anger, Tendrils gets through cards like Selfless Spirit, Kor Firewalker, and still gets rid of cards like Goblin Guide and Monastery Swiftspear in burn, and Kitchen Finks and Voice of Resurgence in decks like Abzan Chord. Tendrils also hits basically everything in dredge besides the dreaded Prized Amalgam.

Stony Silence: I'm unsure of exactly how many copies of this card to run, since lantern control is on the decline, however this card drastically slows down Ad Nausseum decks, shuts down affinity, shuts down lantern, slows tron, I think 2 is safe for now.

Liliana of the Veil: A 4th Lilli is outstanding against control decks (Jeskai, UW, UWX) as she widdles down the opposing player's hand every turn, which allows us to pitch dead cards in a matchup. It's also great to have extra hate for a deck like Bogles.

enter image description here

Preferred: We like facing decks that want to play creatures, or want to win with combos, since we are very disruptive. Decks that want to do their thing can have a hard time getting through what we have, examples of this are (zoo, burn, abzan chord, affinity, jund, etc.

Fair: Fair matchups are mostly other combo and control decks, since we are able to disrupt most combos with discard and graveyard snatching, we are able to stop certain decks from getting too far (so long as we get to make solid land drops). Lantern can be stopped via our sideboard package plus removing any key pieces in the beginning of the game. Dredge is a winnable matchup, especially if we draw our Baneslayer or Kalitas in game one, and our sideboard hate in game 2.

Poor: Like many midrange & control decks, some decks can just outplay us unless we bring hate for them, Tron is the best example of this. (It's why so much of the board is dedicated to facing this deck)

Mardu Nahiri 2-1

Game 1: I was able to get rid of Nahiri early, and I even got to see them play an Empirion or two, which was great when they ate paths and wraths. Won with Both Gideons.

Game 2: They tricked me into thinking they were just mardu Nahiri, and when mentors and pyromancers came out, I didn't have enough removal for them, and lost.

Game 3. They did start with a Leyline out, but disenchant handled that. After that it went like game 1 and I won with walkers.

Bogles 0-2

Game 1: I drew a lot of cards, and killed some spiritdancers, but without a Lilli, I got killed by a bogle.

Game 2: Sided in my disenchents over brutality, but through several walls, discard, and whispers, I never found a lilli, and i died. This match caused me to go 4-1 again.

GB Rock 2-0

Game 1: Op had plenty of Bobs and Goyfs, and I had removal. I ended up crushing thier walkers with my little gideon and vent. Won with Gideon and shambler beats.

Competitive Modern League 4/15/2018 for next 5 matches

Affinity 0-2

Game 1: Affinity is usually a good matchup. My opponent had a fast start, but I thought by removing some key pieces, I had the game locked down to find my finishers. My opponent slammed a Hazoret on the board, and without a walker or path to really stop it, I lost to it.

Game 2: I drew a hand that would beat the pants off affinity, with two lands, sweepers and removal, I thought I had the game. Then after my removal ran dry, I kept drawing it, except I still only had two lands, and my sweepers became my death and that's how I went 4-1 tonight.

Death's Shadow BUG 2-0

Game 1: Tarmogoyfs and Death Shadows are easy to remove if you have enough removal for them, and after they were gone, walkers became an issue for my opponent. Win with Big Gideon and Shambling Vent.

Game 2: Basically game 1.

Bant Company 2-1

Game 1: I played removal.dek, and with Kalitas out, cards like Kitchen Finks become a lot worse as threats.

Game 3: I played Lilli, into Gideon, into Elspeth, as the game went on, and my opponent conceded.

Eldrazi Tron 2-1

Game 1: Multiple field of ruins made it hard for my opponent to assemble tron, with my opponent trying to play eldrazi I was able to play enough removal till I won with Gideon beats.

Game 2: I drew two lands with a surgical in my opener, planning to disassemble tron for good and go with walkers, unfortunately I drew no lands save to two in my opener and lost.

Game 3: I fulminator'd tron and surgicaled it, and then I went with Lilli and Big Gideon and won with them and vents.

Naya Burn 2-0

Game 1: My opponent had a fast start but began to draw blanks, as wall of omens and collective brutality really slowed down their clock. I won with Little Gideon.

Game 2: I drew inquisition for their Eidolan, and I clogged the board with Little Gideon and a wall. Won with little gideon and Kalitas.

Modern Night on 4/14/2018 @ LGS for Next 5 Games

Grixis Death Shadow 2-0

Game 1: I kept a hand with some lands, baneslayer, and a few interaction spells. My opponent discard my interaction but I managed to bounce back with a well timley drawn Gideon of the Trials. I was able to remove my opponents threats with a wrath and moved in swiftly with Gideon and won with beats.

Game 2: I had basically a nut draw, (If I had opening leyline it would have been the nutter butters) My hand was interaction and cheap walkers, my opponent drew a lilli of last hope to try and survive my wraths, but I was just overloaded with good things to play.

GR Tron 2-1

Game 1: I had discard and a field of ruin, but I whiffed on lands and my opponent went out of control.

Game 2: Solid game, I had to field + surgical to slow them down, and then it turned into who can with with walkers first, managed to shoot down an Ugin and went for gold with Shambling Vents.

Game 3: Closest game with Tron I've ever had, it was back and forth for removal and discard, and I barely managed to draw a Stony Silence to put myself ahead and win with Vents and Elspeth.

Affinity 2-1

Game 1: I had discard for Cranial Plating, but my opponent ended up getting a few more of those and I just couldn't stop all of the creature lands.

Game 2: Started off with a Disenchant in my hand to stop an early Steel Overseer from being annoying. Match went for a bit, but I overall crushed him with my walker army.

Game 3: Baneslayer turned this match into shooting fish in a barrel, because as long as I kept removal for the equipment, nothing got past the angel. Won with big Gideon and Angel.

Post Damnation place

GR Tron 0-2

Game 1: I had a decent start, I hit my opponent's Sylvan Scrying on turn 1, and was builidng my board. They drew the two other tron pieces off the top and won with a karn turn 4.

Game 2: I had land hate for days, but natural tron plus more pieces was nearly impossible to beat, I lost to Karn and Ulamog.

GB Tron 2-1

Game 1: An early Field of Ruin stopped him from turn 3 tron, and I managed to pick uo the pace with Lilli and Big Gideon to win the game with a Lilli alt and Gideon beats.

Game 2: I thought I'd stopped him from setting up tron with discard, then he drew into the last piece naturally and managed to get himself a Karn while I only had spirit tokens.

Game 3: Field of Ruin is spectacular with an early Surgical Extraction to make sure none of these awful tron pieces saw the light of day. I won with Kalitas and spirit beats.

UR Storm 1-2

Game 1: I held a hand great for pretty much any other matchup, and got stormed off on turn 6.

Game 2: Rest in peace and Discard made it difficult for my opponent to find their pieces. I won with Gideon beats.

Game 3: I mulliganed into a Leyline at 6 cards, but even with other discard Storm just went off anyway.

UR Storm 0-2

Game 1: My opponent top decked an electromancer turn 2 after I thoughtisezed them. They won on the following turn since I had no fatal pushes.

Game 2: I mulliganed for my sideboard pieces, drew stuff that was alright (even a Gideon of the Trials) but my opponent was able to combo before I could kill them.

Eldrazi Tron 2-1

Game 1: Kept a hand without Thoughtseize, and my opponent had natural tron into turn 3 Karn.

Game 2: Drawing sideboard stuff on top of quarters made this match very easy for me. I won with gideon beats.

Game 3: Blowing up a not so heavy tron board made it easy to run over with gideons and Lillis. won with Gideon beats.

Eldrazi Tron 0-2

Game 1: I was light on threats and removal, and the early Chalice of the Void on one is very annoying.

Game 2: Drew none of the sideboard, and it played out a lot like game 1.

UW Control 2-0

Game 1: Discarded an early Search for Azcanta  Flip and went through enough discard to play Lilli, and then won with Gideon beats.

Game 2: Sided in more discard over removal, and I won with Lilli and gideon beats.

Naya Burn 2-0

Game 1: Collective Brutality and gideon of the Trials made this a pretty easy game 1.

Game 2: Storming the opponent with the help of brutality and Baneslayer angel, even path to exile wasn't enough for my opponent.

Dredge 2-0

Game 1: Cathartic Reunion is a good card, and with cards like Faithless Looting, the matchup seemed difficult, but with Baneslayer Angel, I was able to grind out my opponent till I won with gideon and Angel beats.

Game 2: Rest in Peace was an amazing topdeck here, I was able to stall my opponent with walls and tokens till I won with Gideon beats

Dredge 0-2

Game 1: Pieces just didn't come together since my opponent had so many Cathartic Reunions. Lost to a bunch of zombos.

Game 2: Drawing none of the sideboard pieces made this match tough, and drawing walkers with no backup didn't really work out.

GB Rock Rematch 2-0

Game 1: After the previous game was just pitiful for my deck, we agreed to rematch. I was able to utilize my resources pretty well, and managed to go over the top with my walkers. Won with Baneslayer angel and Elspeth.

Game 2: I drew three lands and a lot of lingering souls, and when you get a bunch of spirits out, cards like enemy lilli's aren't very good against you. The game was won by Gideon of the Trials and spirit tokens.

GB Rock 0-2

Game 1: The deck decided that we would start with three lands in the opener, and that would be all we would ever draw. Lost because going through multiple draw spells and not finding lands doesn't win games.

Game 2: Mulled a zero lander into a hand with two nonland cards. My deck decided to instead draw lands for 5 turns while my opponent got to have fun. I lost.

Mardu Pyromancer 2-0

Game 1: Since we play most of the same cards, I had better top-decks and stopped the tempo play with ease.

Game 2: A lot grindier since my opponent had a bunch of discard, but I ended up winning with two vents.

Eldrazi Tron 0-2

Game 1: New guy, didn't know what he was brining, I brought what I could, but smashers are good in pairs.

Game 2: I got locked out by a sneaky chalice on 1, and then my follow ups got taken by the nutty turn 2 thought knot. Lost to eldrazi. Went 3-1 Tonight, i'm impressed with this deck's performance.

Bogles 2-0

Game 1: Lilli is good when she is in the opener, even when on the draw, I would kill all bogles and win with Spirit beats.

Game 2: Got lucky with E.E. in my opener, cracked it at the right time and followed by a wrath, I won with Kalitas and Spirit beats.

Grixis shadow 2-1

Game 1: My opponent had a pretty nutty draw, going down to 12 by turn 1, even with my discard I couldn't beat him.

Game 2: My opponent got stuck on a 1 lander with cyclers and never found another land till turn 4.

Game 3: grindy match, being able to be removal.deck made this an easy match for me.

UR Storm 2-1

Game 1: I didn't have any discard, and my opponent had the nuts and went off on turn 3.

Game 2: I drew Rest in peace and my opponent was shredded by my discard, I won with spirits and gideon Beats.

Game 3: I had my opponent with discard, removal, and spirits, and my opponent started to go off, but fizzled just short of killing me.

Magic Night @ Local Store For Above 4 matches

GW Hatebears 1-2

Game 1: I drew discard, and with my opponent having cards like Loxodon Smiter, cards like Lilli were just dead draws.

Game 2: I drew a good amount of wraths and removal, and was satisfied with the results, a win!

Game 3: Collected Company was crazy good for my opponent, and they managed to draw three copies of it, which goes really well with cards like Voice of Resurgence. I lost to a top decked company that produced 2 voices and the board was too out of my control since I had already used 2 of my wraths.

Soulflayer Combo 2-0

Game 1: Draw Lilli made this matchup easy, since they are trying to get something that you cant deal with, but if you make them sac their big flayer, the combo does nothing. I won with Elspeth.

Game 2: Leylines are annoying, but so is Rest in Peace, and without that the deck was basically a bad abzan build, and my opponent lost from Gideon beats.

Esper Gifts Control 2-1

Game 1: Discard in mass amounts is great at tearing up control decks. I was easily able to discard away counters and landed both Gideons and a Lilli. I won with my walkers beating down.

Game 2: Lighter on interaction, my opponent managed to gifts their way into an Iona and Elesh Norn, and without any interaction for them they played their Unburial Rites and hard locked me out of the game.

Game 3: Rest in peace bought me protection here, the game was kinda close but with Lilli's and removal, my opponent couldn't do anything. I won with Shambling Vent and Kalitas.

RG Ponza 2-1

Game 1: I figured out what my opponent was playing, and I fetched out basics before Blood Moon hit. I actually ended up having enough lands and discard to dodge most of my opponent's game plan, and won with Gideon beats.

Game 2: My opponent had the nuts, playing 2 Inferno Titans back to back and I had no real answers and no real lands.

Game 3: My opponent drew a bunch of gas, but didn't draw a ton of lands, their reliance on ramp cards made them weak to discard. I pulled this one with a giant Kalitas.

Mono-Black Control 2-0

Game 1: Lingering Souls and Little Gideon are fantastic against grindy decks. I won with wraths and Gideon beats.

Game 2: My opponent had a good start, but began getting a lot of dead draws like Discard and creature removal, and I plowed with indestructible Gideon and Lingering Souls tokens.

Death's Shadow Jund 2-1

Game 1: I drew a decent amount of removal, and my opponent was light on threats, I won with beats from Lingering Souls and gideon.

Game 2: I was playing pretty well, then I drew 6 lands in a row for no reason and lost.

Game 3: Lingering Souls, E.E. and my removal worked even through the counterspells. I won with Kalitas and Lingering Souls beats.

Eldrazi Tron 2-0

Game 1: I got lucky that my opponent kept a hand full of tron pieces, but nothing else. He got punsihed for it while I beat down with 2 Gideons.

Game 2: With all the hate for tron in this deck now, we are able to really stop opponents from being able to Karn us. The game went long but I won with double Gideon and Kalitas.

Affinity 2-0

Game 1: My opponent had a reasonable start, but I had my wraths and Quarters, and they gave me an easy win with Gideons.

Game 2: Stony silence and more removal meant death for this deck, I won with Kalitas beats.

Soul Sisters 2-0

Game 1: My opponent basically had the nut draw game 1, and I was not able to put up too much of a fight. That was until I hit Wrath of God, then the game basically ended because Lilli and Gideon work very well together.

Game 2: More removal worked well, I used tendrills to "wrath" an early board state, and almost lost (down to 3 life) but in the end Gideon and Elspeth pulled through and gave me the win.

Naya Burn 2-0

Game 1: I drew my Kalitas on turn 3 and played it turn 4, my opponent had no real response and Kalitas won me the game.

Game 2: Collective brutality is great when you draw 2 of them. The game went well once my opponent began to top-deck. I won with Gideon beats.

(Post Changes)

GB Elves 1-2

Game 1: I had some awkward draws with tap lands and limited removal, and I got destroyed y an exuri I had no answers to.

Game 2: I had a wrath in my opener and played to keep it. I played the cards right and won with Gideon and Kalitas beats.

Game 3: Basically game 1.

Naya Burn 2-0

Game 1: Kalitas is outstanding against aggro decks of all types, and this one proved no different once he landed.

Game 2: Timely Reinforcements and collective brutality are outstanding sideboard cards, and they won me the game with ease.

Eldrazi Tron 1-2

Game 1: I never thought that turn 1 chalice on 1 followed by an eventual chalice on three could happen, but it did. My opponent locked me out of my deck and I my finishers met a wall of eldrazi.

Game 2: When you draw the sideboard cards for tron in this deck, Tron doesn't do so well. I turn 1 Quarter and Extracted for a tron piece and the game went very well fro there. I won with Big Gideon and Kalitas.

Game 3: As I said when you draw the sideboard cards, its good. But when you mull to 5 because of two zero landers in a 24 land deck, you just kinda lose to Variance from there.

Eldrazi Tron 0-2

Game 1: My opponent managed to assemble tron and Karn'd me turn 3 off the top. I had plenty of discard but after the turn 3 Karn the game didnt go well for me and I lost to an Ulamog.

Game 2: Turn 2 Thought-Knot is great against this deck, since it gets to nab an answer card from our hand. My opponent barely managed to pull off a win with a Walking Ballista after casting All is Dust.

(Post Changes)

Decided to pick this deck up again and play.

Bogles 2-1

Game 1: I was on the draw and I drew nothing but discard and targeted removal, I wasn't too happy about this one.

Game 2: I drew both of my E.E. and toasted his board with a Lili followup.

Game 3: Basically Game 2.

Shadow Zoo 2-0

Game 1: Discard and removal work well against this deck. I won with Lili and Gideon.

Game 2: Basically game 1.

UW Control 1-2

Game 1: I grinded him out with Discard and Lingering Souls tokens, and won with a Lillia and a Gideon.

Game 2: While I was well favored this game with Phyrexian Arena, he actually managed to make me mill out right before I could kill him (It was a long game).

Game 3: I somehow managed to draw nothing but discard and lands, he blew up my quarters with his own, and lost to Celestial Colonnade I had no answers to.

Mono U Tron 2-1

Game 1: He got turn 3 tron and began unloading creatures at me, and I never drew a quarter.

Game 2: A turn 2 Quarter with Extirpate slowed him down a lot, I grinded him out with Kalitas and Lilli and won.

Game 3: Discard and quarters with lilli slowed him down till I got Gideon and Kalitas and won.

Mono-W Fruity Pebbles 2-0

Game 1: Discard shredded his hand, I stablized with Lilli and Gideon

Game 2: Basically game 1.

Grixis Control 1-2

Game 1: He got a turn 2 tasigur, and I drew no real removal for it, he got me with bolts and snapcasters.

Game 2: Discard destroyed his hand, and I stabalized with Gideon and Vents.

Game 3: Basically Game 1.

I think control might be a poor matchup.

Mono-Green Pump 2-1

Game 1: Discard tore up this infect-wannabe with relative ease. Removal plus gideon and Lilli ended it quickly.

Game 2: He drew well, a lot of creatures and things to protect them with, I lost to a big Predator Ooze.

Game 3: Basically Game 1.

BW Tokens 2-1

Game 1: This matchup is like a mirror, except our mainboard is very bad against it, he grinded me out the game with tokens and I couldn't keep up.

Game 2: He kept a land heavy hand that I tore aprt with discard, won with spirit tokens and a vent.

Game 3: Another grindy game, this time I drew my sweepers, and won with a couple vents.

GB Tron 2-0

Game 1: Discard, lilli, and a quarter let me smash gideon for a quick kill.

Game 2: Basically game 1 except with stony silence.

GB Tron 0-2

Game 1: Tunr 3 Karn into turn 4 Ulamog won the game pretty quickly, I drew no real disruption.

Game 2: I slowed him with a stony silence, buy he still managed to assemble tron through a quarter and won with an ugin.

Elemental Tribal 2-0

Game 1: Removal & Discard plus lilli = win

Game 2: Basically game 1.

WR Prison 2-0

Game 1: I used an inquisition a blood moon, but he drew another one and played it turn 2 with a sprit guide, thankfully I was drawing my basics, and I used Anguished Unmaking on his nahiri the following turn, we both flooded for a bit, but then I got a lilli, which he killed with Lightning Helix, and then I used a Gideon to quickly finsish the game.

Game 2: After playing 3 discard spells, my opponent didn't do lot and I won with Gideon.

GU Infect 2-0

Game 1: I used Lilli to remove creatures and arena to keep my hand refueled, won in a landslide.

Game 2: Basically game 1.

BW Tokens 0-2

Game 1: The current maindeck doesn't have a great way to deal with tokens, and even with some discard he made bigger tokens then i had, and killed me.

Game 2: I put in my tendrils, explosives, and disenchants, but he was still able to churn out tokens even after I blasted the board twice, I think this is just a bad fringe matchup.

GB Rock 2-0

Game 1: Weird build on GB Rock that used Howling Mine for card draw, he kept me refueled and I didn't have to do much since he did so much damage to himself with fetchlands, he scooped.

Game 2: Basically Game 1.

8-Whack 2-1

Game 1: Discard and removal only got me so far, and after a few bushwhackers he had me.

Game 2: Timely Reinforcements and a wraths spelled the end for my opponent.

Game 3: Removal and discard on top of lilli won me the game.

Temur Midrange 2-0

Game 1: I won through removal and beating with Gideon.

Game 2: Same as game 1.

(Post Changes) Bogles 2-0

Game 1: Turn 1 Thoughtseize swung the game in my favor, I won with a Gideon

Game 2: Disenchanted his leyline and used EE to blow up his board.

Living End 2-1

Game 1: I was able to discard most his cascaders, and when he finally used Living End I already had a decent hand, and won with a Kalitas and removal.

Game 2: He drew a bunch of cascaders and Fulminator Mages they werent too painful to me, but he managed to cut me off 2 lands, and I couldn't wrath, lost to a successful Living End.

Game 3: I had a Nihil Spellbomb in my opener, which made him cautious about what he was doing. I won with a Gideon Jura coupled with sorin.

GB Snake 2-0

Game 1: Discarded away threats, and any he did play got removed, I won with a kalitas and a sorin.

Game 2: This was a really grindy game since his deck was so synergistic, I eventually pulled through after wrathing the board with Sorin, some spirit tokens, and a Vent.

Game 1: Lingering Souls was a total beast in the deck, and ended up winning me the game since I pathed all enemy threats.

8-whack 2-0

Game 1: Removal combined with a kalitas brought the deck to a halt.

Game 2: Basically game one with Gideon finishing instead.

Kiki Toolbox 2-0

Game 1: Super grindy game, he had me on the ropes but linger souls tokens, 2 shambling vents with arena and ob nix won me the game.

Game 2: He shelled out most of his board, and I got a klaitas in turn 4, he played a zealous conscritpts anf I followed up with a wrath exiling 5 creatures and giving me 5 2/2 zombies and an Ob nix on the following turn, he conceded.

Jeskai Flying Men 2-0

Game 1: Discarded a few early game plays, and I won through removal and a Sorin.

Game 2: I drew plenty of discard and removal and he scooped.

Naya burn 2-1

Game 1: Discard was able to take away burn spells and lingering souls bought me some time until I was able to get down a sorin, and a Gideon, and I won the game with them.

Game 2: I didn't draw a lot of real interaction, and he burned me out.

Game 3: Timely came through and saved me from getting burned out, I won with a Gideon and a Sorin.
