My child of alara list, THIS IS NOT 5-COLOR CONTROL, I hate the idea of "wrath, wrath, counterspell", sure I play 3 wraths and Child of Alara is a wrath in itself, but it's also a 6/6 trampler that gives me all the options in magic, so lets go through it
THE LANDS:
All 10 shock lands, All 10 dual lands, 1 of each basic land with the exception of 2 forests seeing as its the most prominent color in the deck, the 5 vivid lands, Command Tower, Reflecting Pool
Prahv, Spires of Order
- stops progenitus, and anything else stupid unstoppable like that,
Strip Mine - land staple pretty much
Seaside Citadel
- alara tri land of the three most prominent colors
Bojuka Bog - another staple if you can use it
Maze of Ith - good protection card
Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth - black staple, but I'm starting to recognize it as unnecessary
THE CREATURES:
Acidic Slime - I consider it a staple
Animar, Soul of Elements - this guy just kinda turned out to do nothing, getting replaced (suggestions below)
Archon of Justice - gets rid of darksteel forge, that's all I thought about when I put it in
Artisan of Kozilek - graveyard creature recursion
Avenger of Zendikar, this deck is pretty rampy, so he can be pretty scary
Azusa, Lost but Seeking - good ramp
Baneslayer Angel - big bad flying liflinky thing that kills stuff
Blood Artist - works so well alongside the wraths in the deck, 1 life loss adds up after a while
Bloodbraid Elf - mainly in for the cascade
Bloom Tender - this chick has turned out to be an allstar in here,
Coiling Oracle - ramp or card draw
Consecrated Sphinx - super card draw, I consider this card a staple for blue
Eternal Witness - staple card
Grazing Kelpie - suprisingly been pretty good to me, it's light recursion
Kozilek, Butcher of Truth - good card draw, also one of those creatures that say "I'm here to kick ass and chew bubblegum, and I'm all out if bubblegum"
Massacre Wurm - mini wrath, also works well in a wipe, again like Blood Artist, little damage adds up
Mulldrifter - blue card draw staple
Reveillark - this guy ended up being a monster good card, it can recur most of my creature base
Rune-Scarred Demon - fatty boom-booms + tutor
Sen Triplets - a control monster, but starting to realize that it needs to be replaced (suggestions below)
Shriekmaw - black staple, it's a killspell or killspell + dude
Solemn Simulacrum - staple, duh
Sun Titan, another staple card
Trygon Predator - he's just good, you never think of him, but he just ends up being that way
Twilight Shepherd - this angel works so well with the wraths, love her
Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre - blows up something and survives wraths, see kozilek for further explanation
Vexing Shusher
- very good card, makes anything you play possibly uncounterable
Weathered Wayfarer - this guy is completely insane, he's an allstar
Woodfall Primus - he blows up stuff...k?
Wurmcoil Engine - fatty boom-booms and goes through a wrath really well
THE WRATHS:
All Is Dust - chose this because of the fact that I use 3 eldrazi, plus, indestructible is really annoying
Decree of Pain - it's kinda costly, but it draws me cards so I'm happy
Austere Command - it's a specialized wrath, if I have a lot of low power dudes out, I can choose to keep them, plus it's the one of the few ways I have to get rid of artifacts and enchantments
THE OTHER STAPLES:
Ancestral Vision - draws cards...yea
Beacon of Unrest - multiple time recursion
Beast Within - instant speed blow up anything
Darksteel Ingot - mana fixing
Expedition Map - land tutor
Fact or Fiction - it's fact or faction, not really sure how else to explain it
Jace Beleren - baby jace draws cards
Maelstrom Pulse - kills almost anything
Ponder - top deck manipulation
Sensei's Divining Top - top deck manipulation
Sol Ring - mana fix staple
Terminate - great kill spell
Vindicate - answers your problems
THE RAMP:
Explore - great card, extra land plus an extra card in hand
Mirari's Wake - not exactly a ramp, but it doubles your mana and buffs your creatures
Recross the Paths
- a really cool ramp card, it gives you the chance to play it more than once
Search for Tomorrow - cool card to play on turn one,
Sylvan Scrying - more basic land tutor
THE FUN SPELLS:
Bituminous Blast - kills something + cascading
Defense of the Heart - this is a really different card, it does nothing until your opponent has 3 creatures and then wonder why you have a Rune-Scarred Demon and Baneslayer Angel
Genesis Wave - this card is completely insane...played at the right time, it can pretty much say "you will win the game"
Karn Liberated - when you play him and you get his -14...you just feel like that guy, you know THAT guy...but seriously, if you pop off his -14 and lose, take him out of your deck
Lurking Predators - this card is fun, suddenly their little ramp spell or other tiny thing becomes your Wurmcoil Engine or Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre, plus it gives you a bit of top deck manipulation
Maelstrom Nexus - CASCADE ALL THE THINGS
Momentous Fall - this is an awesome card, and it combos so well with the child, swing in, my opponent blocks with a creature that's to strong for the child, so instead of just letting him die, I put him out in a blaze of glory
Praetor's Counsel - this card works out pretty well, it's good recursion plus it basically leaves behind an emblem
Sphinx's Revelation - it's just that one card, no need for an explanation
Well thats it, leave your thoughts, revisions, suggestions, and such below, I always appreciate help
