Brago's Eternal Reign (Retired)

Commander / EDH WU (Azorius)

Updated (27/2/17)

After making a Grand Arbiter Agustine IV deck, I realized that my deck was...sub par. It wasn't really 'doing' anything but wasting time. Any time I did win it was cause the threats were removed and I was able to fly under the radar. I know Brago, King Ethereal likely puts a target on my back, but I missed my Roon of the Hidden Realm budget build i had made and ripped it apart. After a long journey, I want to try flicker again!

As most Brago, King Ethereal decks go, everything focusses on ETB effects or LTB effects. My deck continues to do that, but with a subtheme of token generation. Being able to flicker MORE than just creatures, Brago, King Ethereal allows me to use my mana, make Brago unblockable and (using my artifacts) create even more mana and dudes to work with.

As a control package, everyone obviously knows that Counter spells are needed. Something else I put in was Tangle Wire. Putting that in allows me to (somewhat) control the board and try to eliminate blockers or tap down some of their mana. Brago also comes loaded with an Enchantment removal package, allowing for multiple uses out of them to get rid of new threats. Best removal in this package includes Reality Acid. Reality Acid (once flickered) can attach itself to permanents that have hexproof and shroud (see Rule 303.4f), perfect for dealing with Narset, Enlightened Master decks and their 'indestructibility' or their hexproof (Arcane Lighthouse does this too, thus the reason for inclusion)

Token package comes in many forms, using some of the more popular ones in the forms of Elspeth, Sun's Champion, Captain of the Watch, Myr Battlesphere, and so on.

Removal package comes in the form of spells mostly, using standard Path to Exile and Swords to Plowshare. Using Archaeomancer and Mnemonic Wall allows for repeatable use in addition to the enchantment based removal.

We have a few different ways of protecting Brago, my favorite by far being Vanishing. Nothing like exiling Brago and then board wiping immediately after. Pentarch Ward gives us protection from a color of our choice. Whispersilk Cloak and Swiftfoot Boots are a few other non creature based protections we can give him as well.

The deck I created is a bit weak against graveyard synergy and enchantment/artifact based strategies. By no means is this deck meant to be Tier 1, but I am hoping it is still fun to play but competitive enough to keep up.
