The main goal of the death is mass death by infect. The deck also offers other targets for Atraxa, whether its pumping up infect creatures with +1/+1 counters and other creatures like Fathom Mage for card draw, or pumping up cards that have unique counters like Pyramid of the Pantheon. Cards such as Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons, Nest of Scarabs and Necroskitter take advantage of proliferating -1/-1 counters across the board.
