Apocalypse Demon

Creature — Demon

Flying Apocalypse Demons' power and toughness are each equal to the number of cards in your graveyard. At the beginning of your upkeep, tap Apocalypse Demon unless you sacrifice another creature.

Hey, nice first build of Teysa.

I see Darkest Hour which means you're going combo. Blasting Station can replace any aristocrat as the win condition in the combo because any creature you sac creates a token which untaps Station.

Reveillark + Karmic Guide + Teysa is a combo to exile all your opponents creatures because Teysa can sac herself and Lark/Guide are white creatures who can reanimate each other and Teysa. Lark + Guide + sac outlet is a combo to reanimate all the 2 or less power creatures in your graveyard which an aristocrat can be the win condition or Ayara or Gray Merchant of Asphodel. Buried Alive is very good at setting up Lark + Guide getting an aristocrat into your graveyard.

Hour is an important card and you're playing many other enchantments which makes Hall of Heliod's Generosity a helpful recursion effect. You're playing many utility lands which gives Expedition Map many choices thus I think it's worth adding. When your Commander is able to create 1/1 tokens it makes Skullclamp excellent repeatable draw.

Cards to consider cutting:

Good luck with your deck.

Love the deck theme idea! Just want to say you have it listed that you have two copies of Selective Snare.

I'm going to say right off the bat that Meteorite, Diabolic Tutor, Bridge from Below, Laboratory Maniac don't belong in your deck because they are just bad cards. Although Laboratory Maniac is a fun alternative win condition, your deck simply doesn't have the mill power to achieve this and even if you did you have a greater chance of milling that him; because he's odd cost you can't use your commander to bring him back.

I am confused as to why you're discarding for graveyard strength when the only thing that benefits from having things in your graveyard is Apocalypse Demon. I want to point out that your commander Gyruda, Doom of Depths ability can only return a creature card of even mana cost from the four cards that everyone milled. So you won't be able to return anything that's already in your graveyard.

One other point I want to make is that taking the top four card from your library and things like taking putting the top card of your library {example: Deranged Assistant }into your graveyard don't count as drawing cards so Oneirophage and Chasm Skulker won't trigger.

Lastly after play testing your deck a couple times the biggest weakness this deck has is the fact that your commander is 6 mana below I'll suggest some budget mana rocks, because the faster you have you commander online the faster your deck and do kraken things ^-^ but all of these mana rocks will be better than Meteorite which is very bad.

Good Luck on your deck! Hope that was helpful!

Everflowing Chalice, Hedron Archive, Star Compass, Prophetic Prism, Prismatic Lens, Mind Stone, Worn Powerstone, Spinning Wheel, Silumgar Monument, Manalith, Mana Geode, Fountain of Ichor, Drake-Skull Cameo, Dimir Cluestone, Dimir Keyrune, Darksteel Ingot

I like Sewer Nemesis and Apocalypse Demon for fun fat bois.

Careful Consideration is pretty weak. I'd recommend Final Parting or Jarad's Orders instead

Yo I saw you were looking for help! I haven't built it yet, but here's my Mimeo Mill; It has a fat maybeboard. Here's every card I considered while building the deck.

(The goal was to make The Mimeoplasm as big as possible and then sacrifice it to Altar of Dementia ... relatively casual, but Mimeo can get pretty mean... especially with infect.)

Here's a great edh resource: Command Zone Deck Building Template

From your post, it sounds like you don't like Nekusar... but don't worry... nobody does! It's a burn deck and everyone at the table should target the player who's trying to slug everyone at once. It's a pretty weak strategy because it has poor politics and is easily disrupted. Remove Nekusar when he's about to cast a wheel and watch out for Tainted Strike .

Looking at your deck, a few things pop out right away: (1) You need more ramp, (2) better removal, (3) more draw. Focus on getting the engine turning before you're seduced by flashy plays that might work against you. If a card doesn't progress your game plan powerfully and quickly, cut it!!!

1) I count 5-6 ramp, but you want 10-12, all below 4 cmc. For a 5 drop commander you want about 46-47 mana sources. Good old Rampant Growth , Burnished Hart , etc, will serve you well.

2) You have a lot of clunky counterspells. Add in 3-4 board wipes, like Ixidron and Massacre Girl and swap niche and costly interaction for Beast Within , Naturalize , etc. Creatures like Ravenous Chupacabra are great too.

3) Draw!!! You can't play if you don't have cards. There are a lot of ways to draw 7+ cards a turn. Champion of Wits , Fathom Mage , and every version of Windfall ( Whispering Madness , Forgotten Creation ,etc) are killer in this deck.

My favorite card for this deck is Morality Shift . Its not the best, but its what I really want to do.

You absolutely need Mirror-Mad Phantasm . If you clone it with Mimeoplasm, you mill your whole library. Then cast a typical Laboratory Maniac for the win.

Apocalypse Demon is your budget Lord of Extinction .

Building on a budget is a rewarding challenge. Cut cards ruthlessly! Your commander already does what you want to do (...steal and play your opponent's creatures), so try to open up the deck and make it flow. Commander starts as a slow and clunky format, but its broken!

Good luck and +1

The two types of abilities are functionally different since CDAs (the "old" style with */*) operate in all zones and the 0/0s with static abilities only operate on the battlefield. Having said that, over the past 2 years new cards with either break down to:

CDA

Static ability

So, unless I missed a large number of cards the last 2 years of cards don't agree with your assessment.

When I was playing Jarad, I used to jam as many Mulches, Commune with the Gods, Seek the Wilds and Satyr Wayfinders as possible. Then used things with / power like Lord of Extinction, Sewer Nemesis, Splinterfright, Apocalypse Demon, etc. to throw at your opponents face.

Also, Meren of Clan Nel Toth is a nice way to reccur the sacrificed creatures turn after turn.
