God Pharoh's Gift and The Scarab God Abilities on */* Creatues

Asked by LuckyJack 6 years ago

So I'm currently working on a deck revolving essentially around externalizing creatures from my graveyard with The Scarab God and God-Pharaoh's Gift and while looking for creatures I wasn't sure what the power and toughness would be of a creature with situational stats such as Apocalypse Demon. Would it be a 4/4 with additional power and toughness equal to the cards in my graveyard? Thanks in advance!

It would just be a 4/4.

If a copy effect specifically says it replaces or otherwise doesn't copy a certain characteristic of the original, then it also ignores any characteristic-defining abilities associated with that characteristic. Because The Scarab God and God-Pharaoh's Gift say "except it's a 4/4 black zombie", their copy effects won't copy any CDAs related to P/T, color, or creature types.

In your example, Apocalypse Demon's 2nd ability won't get copied onto the token. It will just have Flying and the "sacrifice something or tap me" ability.

I assume that these effects also don't copy Devoid and Changeling right? (for reference because I guarantee someone else will ask about these mechanics)

Right. Devoid is a CDA for color and Changeling is a CDA for creature type. They won't be copied in these examples.
