The Banquet of Unending Hunger

Commander / EDH BG (Golgari) Bracket 4

MonsieurLeJuge

This deck is an optimized Golgari sacrifice-attrition shell built around Ygra, Eater of All and the structural advantage it provides: while Ygra is on the battlefield, creatures function not merely as combat pieces but also as Food artifacts, so the ordinary churn of tokens, trades, edicts, and sacrifices becomes a consistent input into Ygra's growth. Rather than pursuing deterministic loops as its primary plan, the list establishes a stable sacrifice economy (reliable token production plus free sacrifice outlets) and layers multiple payoffs on each death (card draw, life drain, and opponent sacrifices). The result is a strategy that converts routine game actions into compounding advantage and forces opponents to spend disproportionately to meaningfully affect the board.

Ygra serves as both engine and finisher. The ward tax does not make removal impossible, but it raises the resource cost of interacting with your commander in a deck that can readily spare Food bodies, often turning removal into a losing exchange. Meanwhile, Ygra's counter accumulation supplies a scalable, slot-efficient win condition that the deck can convert into lethality through trample enablers or sacrifice-based payoffs that translate size into a closing blow. The deck's control axis is principally edict pressure and efficient interaction, with sweepers treated as asymmetric tools because the list is built to rebuild faster than opponents. When the engine reaches operational density (producer + outlet + payoff), it becomes difficult to exhaust; its main vulnerabilities are repeated commander taxation before stabilization and hate pieces that suppress graveyard or death/sacrifice dynamics.
