So, Slivers, srsly?

Slivers do polarize. There is hardly a Magic player who does not hate Slivers. But those who don't adore them. For me, this deck and this creature tribe have a personal connection. I started playing Magic in the 90s, Urza Trilogy time, and the pinnacle of my playgroups decks was a school mate's sliver deck. I always loved them and decided that I would have a Sliver deck, too, in the future. So, when I restarted playing Magic in 2019 and decided to go for EDH, my first deck was a Sliver deck, of course.

Basically this deck tries to utilize it's commander as a tool box to get the right slivers at the right time to answer any issue on the board. More or less all the main combos of slivers are in this deck, so feel free to go for shenanigans. Still, I wanted to keep this a focused tribal deck, so some five-colour-shenanigans like Thassa's Oracle / Tainted Pact you would expect from a cEDH deck are not included in this list. Also I decided to not go full retard and go for all the original dual lands. I went for shocklands and checklands instead. The most noticeable drawback of this decklist is the lack of fetchlands, for sure, but I could not make myself accquire them, yet.

Combos Show

• Sliver Overlord + Amoeboid Changeling enable you to steal any creature on the board. Should you have Crystal Sliver on the board or should enemies have ways to give their stuff hexproof or shroud, your Arcane Lighthouse will give you means to solve this.

• Spiteful Sliver, some additional sliver bodies and a Blasphemous Act make for a ton of damage.

• Sliver Queen, Mana Echoes / Training Grounds / Basal Sliver make for infinite ETB. If you got a way to either generate more mana than you need to create more tokens or get a discount on the ability you can also utilize your sliver tokens to destroy all enemy permanents or deal damage to your enemies with Lavabelly Sliver

• Sliver Hivelord and any of your board wipes will result in a non symmetrical wipe.

• Manaweft Sliver, Gemhide Sliver or Cryptolith Rite will enable you to carelessly cast an infamous Armageddon if you have enough creatures on the board

• Quick Sliver will enable you to flash your slivers. The tutoring abiliy of Sliver Overlord will give you the right slivers for the right circumstances. Morophon, the Boundless will reduce your sliver casting costs by and enable you to basically play your fivecolored slivers for free. This creates some very explosive turns

• Essence Sliver and Syphon Sliver make for double lifelink. As they are worded differently you will get double your slivers' damage as life.

• once you have a means to either reduce your activation costs of Sliver Overlord by Training Grounds or are able to generate infinite colorless with Sliver Queen and Mana Echoes you have a massive toolbox to answer close to anything. Try to bring Morophon, the Boundless on the board, should it be countered, tutor for a Quick Sliver and a Root Sliver while the counter is on the stack and cast them in order to protect Morophon. Once you manage to assemble this you can cast either Lavabelly Sliver or Necrotic Sliver to finish off your opponents. Should they manage to react on instant speed with a Cyclonic Rift, e.g., tutor for a Hibernation Sliver and a Darkheart Sliver, generate more Sliver Tokens at instant speed with Sliver Queen, sacrifice them for life and bounce your slivers back to the board. If you created enough colorless in advance, you will be able to play your board directly after the Rift resolves.

• should your Sliver Queen be exiled, your Brood Sliver is another, slower option to generate additional sliver tokens. This is by far not as devastating and explosive as the combo queen, but sometimes enough to tip a game in your favour. I hardly ever use Sliver Hive to generate tokens but it is a measure of last resort to do so.

• should essential slivers be in your graveyard, be patient. Wait for a moment where you can cast Dregscape Sliver, return all the missing combo pieces from your graveyard and try to win in that turn (you would have to exile them at end of turn).

• Vanquisher's Banner // Dormant Sliver and Chulane, Teller of Tales make for excellent card draw and insanely rampy turns. The First Sliver will only speed this up even further.

The only two non-sliver/non-changeling creatures I run in this list are Lotus Cobra and Chulane, Teller of Tales, as their utility effects are simply too strong not to run them. Lotus Cobra can fix some very nasty moments of being mana screwed and Chulane works excellent in any creature-heavy deck.

I had debated to run one or two planeswalkers in this deck, but as I decided I would not I went for The Immortal Sun instead for additional card draw and some planeswalker-nerf.

Maybeboard // Future Plans Show

• realmwalker sounds decent enough to be considered.

• Heartstone is in consideration to have an additional effect of Training Grounds in the deck. Training Grounds is one of the most important cards in this deck (similar to Mana Echoes) and therefore might draw a lot of target removal from your opponents. Biomancer's Familiar is in consideration for the same reasons. Another option would be to put a few more tutors in to have more reliable access to Training Grounds or Mana Echoes.

• up to now I abstain from fetchlands, mostly because I don't own them, yet, and I am not yet willing to invest in them.

• initially Tamiyo, Collector of Tales was in this deck to protect from sacrifice mechanics. I ended up hardly ever casting her and switched her for Chulane, Teller of Tales as it synergizes excellently with Morophon, the Boundless and can generate extremely explosive, solitaire-style turns. Although I try to get a more or less invicible boardstate with the combination of Crystalline Sliver and Sliver Hivelord I do not want to try to give my board even more protection from one of the means that might still wipe me (mass exile, sacrifice effects and -1/-1 to all creatures). Instead I try to focus more on my wincons.

• I currently do not run any landramp in this deck apart from Chulane, Teller of Tales adn Into the Wilds. This is definitely a weakness as I rely on some lucky draws. Also, I only run 1 one of each basic land in this deck, so there is not that much to tutor for. I usually do compensate this issue with my slivers generating mana.
