TypicalTimmy on Should I Use Board Wipes …

You may want to consider the Timmy route and go for massive X-spells, such as:

Also Anger of the Gods is underrated and can prove useful against certain archetypes. Now while it is true that you are hitting your own Werewolves in this process, you can always cast more, hold back on them, or find ways to get them from your graveyard. For example, Feldon's Cane, Renewing Touch, Piper's Melody, Cranial Archive and Elixir of Immortality.

Have land tutors and land ramp spells and the rest as Werewolves. Now you can ramp out Werewolves to apply pressure, wrath the board and get your puppies back. The goal of the deck would be to wear thin your opponent's resources with a continual assault across the board at all times.

As an added bonus, his reverse side wants to have tons of mana anyway, so focusing on X-cost spells is perfect.

I'd recommend Skyclave Relic and Empowered Autogenerator for some serious ramp, and Lithoform Engine and Strionic Resonator to copy his ability, and Rings of Brighthearth

So I see a handful of shuffle GY into library cards ( Piper's Melody and Elixir of Immortality ), but I was curious, why you decided not to have one of the big Eldrazi ( Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre or Kozilek, Butcher of Truth , Ulamog has indestructible so he may be more desirable?) that shuffles your GY when it goes there? Even if you don't get the cast effect, the cycle might be useful regardless, that way you don't have to rely on a non-creature spell that Atla can't hit to cycle?

Ravenrose: Becasue of the kinds of decks I'm playing against, generally instant speed removal is better than sorcery speed. Plus removal having the flexibility of hitting artifacts as well is super important. Cards like Natural State would be the next goto for removal.

Piper's Melody is ok, but typically I don't have many creatures in the graveyard prior to comboing off/don't need to recur more than one. Regrowth would be the next goto if I needed more graveyard recursion.

Rites of Flourishing helps my opponents too much, at least with cards like Selvala, Explorer Returned I have control over when my opponents draw off it.

Tolsimir Wolfblood and Sixth Sense don't add anything here - the deck is a combo deck. Getting extra value from combat triggers is nice, but that's not the focus here.

Wild Pair is interesting but ultimately too slow for the deck. There are a lot cheaper and easier creature tutors and the name of the game for this deck is to dig for a sac outlet (which in most cases is not a creature).

Thanks for the suggestions though.

Since you do not play so many enchantments why not play Paraselene? Useful against everyone else's pesky enchantments. Piper's Melody is also a worthy consideration. Rites of Flourishing could also prove useful. Tolsimir Wolfblood and Sixth Sense may also prove useful. Wild Pair could also be worthy of consideration. Hope these help!

Why didn't you just update your Spring Into Death deck list? There's only like 2 cards different, haha.

Okay, so first off, get rid of Sol Ring, scrub. Secondly, some potentially good fast mana sources would be Songs of the Damned, Cabal Ritual, Dark Ritual, and/or Culling the Weak.

Now on to the real meat:

Perpetual Timepiece, Elixir of Immortality, Primal Command, Piper's Melody (and friends)

These are good for grabbing your GY so you don't mill yourself out or to protect yourself from enemy Bojuka Bogs and such.

Combo 1:

Mikaeus, the Unhallowed Combo

  • Turn 1: Play a one drop ramp creature.
  • Turn 2: Play Buried Alive and fetch Mike and Triskelion.
  • Turn 3: Play Victimize, bring Mike and Trike out and ping infinitely to win.

Or tutor for Defense of the Heart and win the turn after you cast it.

Combo 2:

Necrotic Ooze Combo

Once it's out, the only thing that can interrupt this is Split Second since you can respond by adding and removing counters.

Combo 3:

Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord Combo

This requires some knowledge of how the stack works.

  • Exile cards from your library until Phyrexian Devourer's ability is put on the stack.
  • In response to the ability, continue exiling cards to beef him up more.
  • Still before allowing the sacrifice to resolve, sack him to Jarad to smack your opponents for a ton of damage, similarly to the aforementioned Ooze-combo.

This gets around player Hexproof and graveyard hate, so you don't have to worry about things like Leyline of Sanctity and Leyline of the Void with this combo, unlike the other two.

Combo 4:

Colorless Mana Combo

  • Have/get Ashnod's Altar in play.
  • Play Nim Deathmantle.
  • Play Grave Titan, pop up two 2/2 tokens.
  • Sack the two tokens to Altar, then sack Titan to get a total of six .
  • Use 4 of that to make Deathmantle grab Titan back and get you two more tokens

Repeat this as many times as desired, netting 2 colorless mana every loop.

libraryjoy on Ideas for musician cards

There are actually already a few musician cards in the game: Yisan, the Wanderer Bard, Elvish Piper, Piper's Melody, Satyr Piper, Talruum Piper, Elvish Bard, Joraga Bard, Druid Lyrist, Elvish Lyrist, Warbreak Trumpeter & my personal favorite: Devout Harpist. (Guess which instrument I play ;) ) Some of them seem similar to ideas you already have, but maybe you'll find some ideas from these.
