Favorite Turn 2 Wins

So I've recently been completely fascinated with imagining the most ridiculous turn 2 wins that I can, and now I'm curious to see what other Tappedouters have come up with. Do you have a fun/ridiculous combo that wins on turn 2 that you especially like?

donut62 says... #2

Well kuldotha can do a turn 2 win now but as always requires a god-hand

Well using the power 9 you can technically win without your OPPONENT taking a turn =P you have probably taken several by then however.

Yea there are plenty of things that allow you to win on the first turn.

My favorite turn 2 win is very simple.

Turn 1 Glistener elf

Turn 2 Groundswell, Mutagenic growth, Groundswell. Swing for 11 infect.

Or

Turn 1 Glistener Elf

Turn 2 Giant growth, Mutagenic Growth, Groundswell. Swing for 10 infect

or...

you get the idea.

There were plenty of turn 2 victories in standard with infect. Now there are fewer, but still possible.

Turn 1 glistener elf

Turn 2 mutagenic growth, mutagenic growth, assault strobe

Infect does make it significantly easier to have a turn 2 win, but that seems too straightforward for my liking (What? 4 cards in your combo? psh). For a similar question, whats the maximum amount of DAMAGE possible on turn 2? Any way to do infinite? With or without the power 9?

October 14, 2011 4:30 p.m.

So far, I have gotten as much as 26 dmg turn 2. Turn 1: reveal 4 copies of Chancellor of the Tangle , play a land, play Black Lotus (I wish I had one), tap and sac to add BBB, tap the land, play Army of the Damned .

Turn 2: attack with everything.

October 14, 2011 8:44 p.m.

Vorniclex says... #9

Need a god-hand, but 24 damage on 2nd turn w/: 1st turn- Chancellor of the Tangle in hand, play mountain, tap land, play Pyretic Ritual , use that to play Seething Song , play Lightning Bolt , then Geosurge to play Furyborn Hellkite as 12/12. 2nd turn- tap land to play Assault Strobe and go for the win.

Also figured out first turn kill, but it's even harder to pull off.

1st turn: reveal 2 Chancellor of the Tangle and 1 Chancellor of the Forge , play swamp, use chancellor mana for 2 Groundswell on token, then Tainted Strike on token and swing for 10 infect.

October 14, 2011 11:07 p.m.

Turn 2, eh? So you're allowed 8 cards, then. Well. Mountain , Rite of Flame , Rite of Flame , Seething Song , Geosurge , Reverberate , Deathforge Shaman kicked 10 times.

October 15, 2011 9:29 p.m.

Vorniclex says... #11

Just figured out 2nd turn infinite damage. Takes most amazing luck and even more money, but here it is: 1st turn, play 3 Black Lotus , sac them for any color to play 1 Palladium Myr and 2 Myr Galvanizer s, then play mountain. 2nd turn, start mana loop and play Banefire . Infinite damage that can't be countered or prevented.

Epic win.

I really wish I had the lotus so I could actually do that! XD

October 16, 2011 12:12 a.m.

Or use a swamp and 4 Dark Ritual

October 16, 2011 2:32 a.m.

Vorniclex says... #15

wouldn't have enough cards in hand

October 17, 2011 10:05 p.m.

mossflower says... #16

You would if you're on the draw, which is how I often end up thinking of turn 1/2 combos. The way I see it, these combos aren't really likely to happen, so it's ok to make them a little bit more unlikely, and one extra card allows you a good deal more shenanigans.

And I do like shenanigans.

first turn win in standard: Chancellor of the Forge from opening hand, play a swamp, tap the swamp for Tainted Strike on your token, then pay eight life for four Mutagenic Growth

I had a turn 2 win with my casual deck, swinging for 60+ damage. I used Skullclamp , Mana Vault , Dross Scorpion , and 2 Myr Retriever . drew my deck, played my deck, played Burst of Speed . gg

Play my deck turn 2 (hopefully)

with Hybrid Elves I've always wanted to do this

Turn 1: forest + llanowar elves

turn 2:

quirion ranger + concordant crossroads. Use quirion rangers ability to untap Llanowar Elves and play forest for turn. use the 2 mana to play Priest of Titania tap priest to play another Quirion Ranger and some other 1 mana elf(leaving 1 mana floathing), use second ranger to untap priest of titania, tap again to bring mana total to 6, play Staff of Domination , and go infinite

simple eh?

I was almost killed on turn 3 once by Immolating Souleater with Phyresis . He pumped out putting himself down to 2 life and swung at me, but luckily I had a Dismember in my opening hand. Add a Dark Ritual or Sol Ring to pull it off turn 2.

May 31, 2012 2:10 p.m.

zandl says... #26

Fling works better than Phyresis with Immolating Souleater . It's much harder to stop.

May 31, 2012 2:26 p.m.

hunter9000 says... #27

True, but it's harder to come up with 38 life to pay on turn 2 :)

May 31, 2012 7:08 p.m.

Ah, Channel may be 'cheating', but it's a classic!

May 31, 2012 7:24 p.m.

bcurran says... #29

@zandl Tendrils almost never wins on turn one in Legacy. Perhaps you meant Vintage?

There is a "turn zero" (before you take a turn) win. Obviously, it is unplayable due to requiring too many specific cards in your opening hand (one of which is restricted).

Always choose to play second.

Put Gemstone Caverns into play from your opener.

During your opponent's first Upkeep, do the following:

-Pitch Simian Spirit Guide or Elvish Spirit Guide

-Cast Flash , put Protean Hulk into play, let it die

-With the death trigger, search out four of each of Disciple of the Vault , Phyrexian Marauder , and Shifting Wall

Your opponent loses a total of 32 life. That gives you some wiggle room in case some of the pieces are in your hand.

May 31, 2012 7:28 p.m.

Hmm? Well I envision...the impossible. LOL

Opening HandPlay: Swamp Play: Dark Ritual Play: Dark Ritual Play: Dark Ritual Play: Army of the Damned (Here comes 13 hungry zombies!)Mountain non-played til next turnSoulless One ...that's your first 7 and you play 5 cards...

Next Turn: Draw 4th Dark Ritual Play: Mountain Play: Dark Ritual Play: Soulless One Play: Burst of Speed

Attack with your Zombie Tokens and your Soulless One = 39 damage...but then again, I didn't add how I got Burst of Speed LOL ...see my dilemmas? lol

but then again, if I do manage to get out my zombies, I can attack with them alone without taking out Mr. Soulless. ...noob opponents won't be prepared to counter damage so soon...so they may not draw for preventive damage...or even manage to bring out Pyroclasm so soon. then again, if they do, I could just draw for something like Cemetery Reaper on first turn instead of a Mountain I thought I would need for my imaginary Burst of Speed ...use the reaper buff up my zombies toughness on first/second turn so they can still be +3/+1 when they are done with Pyro... on 2nd turn...I'll be attacking 39 damage anyways?

vila_a23 says... #31

So this has been around for a while but it is still my favorite turn 1 win:

Play 2 Lotus Petal s, play Ancient Tomb or City of Traitors , play Show and Tell putting Sneak Attack on the board, sac your last petal for Griselbrand , use his ability to dig into another petal and Emrakul, the Aeons Torn , Play the petal and use it to play Emrakul, the Aeons Torn . Swing with both Griselbrand and emrakul on turn 1.

Rayenous says... #32

@rodneyrogers82

Unfortunately, playing Swamp , and 3x Dark Ritual s comes to 7 Black mana. Army of the Dead requires 8 mana. As well, on the second turn, you have 4 mana to cast Soulless One , but no mana for the Burst of Speed ... so you not only neglected to mention 'how you got' the Burst of Speed , but also 'how you cast' it... as well as 'how you cast' Army of the Dead. lol
