Fool's Demise

Enchantment — Aura

Enchant creature

When enchanted creature is put into a graveyard, return that card to play under your control.

When Fool's Demise is put into a graveyard from play, return Fool's Demise to its owner's hand.

You're in the colors of counterspells and protection, with and . Flickering Ward and Counterspell are reasonable options, and Swiftfoot Boots lets her start doing her thing as soon as she comes out.

For blink effects, Cloudshift, Ghostly Flicker, and similar effects let you both protect one of your creatures and keep control of your opponents' creatures. Since these cards specifically return the exiled creature "under your control," you can basically reset the control effect. Like, if you took a creature from an opponent with Merieke, you can blink it with one of these cards and keep it under you control without having to keep Merieke tapped.

I also like Fool's Demise for this sort of deck, as a personal favorite.

I feel like a playset of Vedalken AEthermage is too much. Maybe cut a couple for some utility wizards that you can tutor up? Malevolent Hermit  Flip, Venser, Shaper Savant and Gadwick, the Wizened could all be worth considering as toolbox options.

Its a bit janky but if you wanted you could also run Fool's Demise for an invincible Academy Researchers.

Peanut gallery reporting in! I've been waiting for this, and I hope I'm not being obnoxious about it.

This note isn't a criticism, but just an observation. Erosion is the only common ever printed that needs three mana of the same color, and that was back in 1995. I don't know if there's some special reason why it doesn't happen, but Fisher of the Bog caught my eye for that reason. I don't know if it needs to be power-adjusted, but maybe reduce the color density? I leave this in your capable hands.

Undying Endurance feels to me more like a variant Gift of Immortality or Fool's Demise than Undying Rage. This feels like an uncommon, since it can keeps recurring itself and the creature it was attached to. I would suggest either pushing this up to uncommon as-is or adding an additional cost to the enchantment's self-recursion.

I love the design of Warning from Beyond, and it fits with Duelist very nicely.

Cruel Lessons takes the low cost of Sign in Blood and the speed of Blood Pact and puts them together. Probably not too powerful, but worth keeping an eye on, in my opinion.

I agree that Bog-Mad Warlock's spectacle cost should be . That would make it a decent side-grade to Elderfang Disciple, Liliana's Specter, and similar cards.

Thanks for posting these articles. It's a lot of fun watching the creative process, and I hope my thoughts are helpful in some small way.

Hey DreadKhan, thank you for your suggestions. The two lands you suggested are realy cheap and can be a good addition to the deck. I will have a look which lands I can delete out of my original deck to add those since I don t want to get rid of too many basic lands. The other cards you suggested seem to fit realy good into my deck too. Especially Contempt, Slow Motion and Fool's Demise seem to be good cards for this deck. But I realy don t know which cards to take out of my original deck. Maybe you can suggest one. Thank you!

Darkwater Catacombs and Skycloud Expanse tend to play very well for me, low budget or not tbh. War Tax is a solid pillow-fort effect. Slow Motion is a really good budget card, since you keep getting it back. Contempt might be worth casting. Fool's Demise Mark of Eviction are also interesting, mostly as repeatably castable enchantments that can hinder opponents.

Academy Researchers + Fool's Demise can be a fun little infinite sacrifice combo, if your playgroup is ok with that.

Seems like a sweet deck regardless.

Arcum Dagsson -> Elvish Piper/Nissa, Vastwood Seer  Flip/Tooth and Nail/Caravan Vigil/Mana Reflection/Quicksilver Amulet/Summoner's Egg/Fool's Demise/Curator's Ward/Lightning Greaves/Conqueror's Flail/??

Some additional protection for your combo pieces comes to mind. Maybe just another counterspell. But Arcum doesn't belong in the deck IMO

Oh and you can recur the component parts of stacks under your control too: Athreos, Shroud-Veiled, False Demise, Minion's Return, Shade's Form, Unhallowed Pact, Unholy Indenture, Fool's Demise
