Deathforge Shaman

Creature — Ogre Shaman

Multikicker {R} (You may pay an additional {R} any number of times as you cast this spell.)

When Deathforge Shaman enters the battlefield, it deals damage to target player equal to twice the number of times it was kicked.

@Sinkandswim - ahh.. i see.. it does feel underwhelming during turns 6 onward due to lack of card draw.. i'll see what i can do.. thanks for the comment!

@antlers12 - hmmm.. she is a good planeswalker for this deck! another possible redundancy for Soul's Fire and/or Fling ! However, she's still expensive.. I may pass for now, maybe wait next year when M20 rolls out of standard format.. Thanks!

@joratos801 - Territorial Allosaurus costs too high of a kicker spell at 7 CMC for a creature that can fight another creature and it's only a 5/5.. Thicket Elemental is not great. As much as it is a kicker spell, the ETB effect is minimal, when i want to cast my creatures to get the kicker cost.. I have already considered Deathforge Shaman and Torch Slinger , but ultimately removed them for better efficient kicker spells.. The casting cost for both is high for a couple of burn or possible removal of a X/2 creature on the battlefield.. But thanks anyway for the suggestions!

@hopito - Are you sure you're talking about Strionic Resonator or Illusionist's Bracers ? lol. but that card is interesting.. It can help burn each opponent twice for 2 mana, but it is still 2 additional mana along with more mana from kicking spells.. I might revise the deck to include a lot of ramp so that I can accommodate that, but thanks for the suggestion!

If Rakdos gets removed one too many times, Neheb, the Eternal makes a good plan B. Deathforge Shaman could be worth giving a shot too.

Any thoughts about some of these? Bloodhusk Ritualist (if pox is viable in commons only idk these are what i found in my search for a first pauper commander deck), Zulaport Cutthroat , Deathforge Shaman , Viashino Slaughtermaster , Curious Homunculus  Flip (monoblue tempo/control could be awesome with this), Olivia's Bloodsworn .

Crown-Hunter Hireling is a great cheap Ogre worth including. In B/R, and especially in a budget build, card draw is scarce, and the monarchy is great way to solve that problem. And give you an excuse to hit people.

Deathforge Shaman is a great finisher creature to play, and its also super strong with Rakdos since you can use the mana for its multikicker instead of casting it.

Heartless Hidetsugu is an absolutely nasty creature that really helps accelerate aggressive games, and is super powerful in multiplayer. Lets you play stuff nearly for free with Rakdos in play.

Hellhole Flailer is strong creature for its casting cost, and is just about strictly better than, say, Ogre Resister.

Henchfiend of Ukor is a cool-looking Ogre that fits into your colors and comes in swinging.

Ogre Geargrabber seems like interesting tech against voltron decks, or if you want to get rid of a Sword of X and Y from something.

Rustmouth Ogre is hard, repeatable artifact removal; an essential effect in EDH.

Singe-Mind Ogre has real potential to hit something super huge, especially in Commander where the average mana curve is much higher.

Treasonous Ogre is everything you want in EDH. Floods life into mana for casting big creatures, or just enough for that Deathforge Shaman multikicker. Dethrone is also a super relevant ability.

Viscera Dragger has a lot of value going for it; cycle it for another card, and then unearth it for two mana for extra attacking power.
