Hello everyone, so this is my take on Meren of Clan Nel Toth. I have lots of fun with this deck and I learned how fun it can be to sacrifice your own creatures for value. I still gotta work on that mana base though, but this works for now. It basically abusing of ETB effects like Massacre Wurm and draining your opponents with cards like Gray Merchant of Asphodel or Kokusho, the Evening Star. Some cards you can add to the list: Protean Hulk, Phyrexian Reclamation, Razaketh, the Foulblooded, Carrion Feeder, Apprentice Necromancer, Sadistic Hypnotist, Mindslicer, Bane of Progress...

To win you can either use one the infinite combos like Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + Triskelion or just smash your opponents face with lots of plants/zombies buffed by Craterhoof Behemoth.

Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + Triskelion

This is kind of a classic combo and it's pretty simple.

  1. Get both on the battlefield(doens't really matter how you do it, so you can hard cast them or just reanimate or even tutor one of them with Birthing Pod or Eldritch Evolution)
  2. Triskelion will come to play with 3 +1/+1 counters on it, use his ability to remove a +1/+1 counter from him to deal 1 damage to a creature or player, but use it to cause 2 damage to something and the remove the last one to deal damage on himself. Since he's a 1/1 he's gonna die
  3. Since Triskelion is a non-human, he's coming back thanks to Mikaeus, the Unhallowed giving Undying to him
  4. Repeat until everybody is dead.
  5. If you didn't understand how it works, basically Triskelion removes one of his counters to deal damage to a player and 2 damage to himself so he's going to die. Since Mikaeus gives Undying(if a creature with Undying dies and didn't have a +1/+1 counter on it, they come back to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it) to all non-human creatures you control, so when Triskelion dies, it doesn't have any +1/+1 counter on it since you removed all of them to deal the damage, so Undying triggers and brings him back. Then if no one manages to stop that, you just repeat it until all your opponents are dead.
This combo gets you infinite creature tokens to swing at your enemies, beware if you use the plants though, since you will need to buff them. It's highly recommended to get Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest on the battlefield before starting this since he's going to make everything become a huge monster, if you happen to have a Dictate of Erebos too, your opponents' boards will be clean and open for your strike Requirements: Nim Deathmantle + Grave Titan or Avenger of Zendikar + Ashnod's Altar
  1. Having both Nim Deathmantle and Ashnod's Altar on the battlefield, put Grave Titan in to the battlefield, triggering their ability and getting you two 2/2 zombie tokens
  2. After getting the tokens, sacrifice to Ashnod's Altar both one token and the Grave Titan, generating 4 colorless mana
  3. Since a nontoken creature died, this triggers Nim Deathmantle's ability, so pay the to activate it with the mana you generated from sacrificing them to the altar
  4. Nim Deathmantle's ability will bring Grave Titan back to the battlefield creating two more tokens, so by now you should have 3. Repeat this process until you have the desired amount of tokens
You can exchange Grave Titan for Avenger for Zendikar in this too, just have in mind that the plants are 0/1 so you need to buff them somehow, that's where Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest or Craterhoof Behemoth do their thing. Also remember they don't get haste so you can either start the combo in other people's turns if you already have all pieces on the battlefield or if you tutor one of them with Pattern of Rebirth or just wait until it's your turn again to be able to strike(but be aware that everyone is going to try and kill you if you do this and don't attack. You can either use this tokens for infinite mana, draw your whole deck or just kill everyone with infinite Zulaport/Blood Artist triggers, depends on your board.
