If you're like me, the first thing you look at on a creature card are its awesome abilities and power/toughness, and only then do you look to the top right and see to your great dismay that it has a prohibitively large cmc. Well, worry no longer about that cmc. There's a trick to it, and I'm about to clue you in; you don't pay the cmc cost. I know it sounds crazy, but things are about to get even crazier. I want you to put that creature you need on the board, directly into your graveyard, where it can do nothing but look oh-so-cool.

This is where things get interesting. You take that freshly filled graveyard of yours and add just a dash of reanimation. Drop an Entomb or a Buried Alive to stick a brute into your pit. Then pull him right back out, stitch him back together, and breath life into his lungs with Stitch Together or Breath of Life. See how that works? You take something expensive that you couldn't play on turn 3 because you quite simply don't have the mana for it and force it to Rise from the Grave on your command.

This is a strategy best suited to non-singleton formats, but using it in commander has its perks. Namely Teneb, the Harvester. He's an expensive brute himself, but he, along with Nezumi Graverobber allow instant-speed reanimation; and, since he's your commander, you always have access to him.

It takes pain to play this way. You have to risk an empty board, self discard, perhaps even sacrificing your own creatures, but it can be very rewarding. Especially when you sacrifice Brawn or Valor with Victimize to bring out Baleful Force and Verdant Force in the same turn. You can even go turtle with a Blazing Archon and Elderscale Wurm combination. Your creatures are limited only by Teneb's colours, and the trick is in reanimating the biggest and baddest monsters you can come up with.

The other version is called Ol' raisin hands
