Maybeboard

Another deck that I maintain in paper. Back when Atraxa, Praetors' Voice came out as a precon it was focused on +1/+1 counters and poison counters didn't have too many options for builds (plus it made the deck a kill on sight and back then Atraxa, Praetors' Voice took too long to kill with poison). Now, poison is a lot better and would be the best build but I am going to stay true to the original and make it a +1/+1 counter themed. All that to say please do not suggest poison counter additions.

Also, there are a couple cards in here that should be removed if you are making the best possible version of a +1/+1 Atraxa deck but I have left in as it gives mine a little more of a unique identity such as Ob Nixilis, Unshackled, Archmage Ascension, Plaxcaster Frogling, Tamiyo, the Moon Sage, and Fertilid if you looking to add something like Cathars' Crusade one of these should go.

Gameplan:

Pretty simple almost everything gives more counters when we get counters. get Atraxa, Praetors' Voice proliferate and swing for lethal. As mentioned in the Updates this deck is a lot quicker then it use to be and you can get Atraxa, Praetors' Voice big enough to swing lethal commander damage fairly quickly.

Combos:

Ob Nixilis, Unshackled + Fertilid for a silly damage kill forcing players to search for land.

Kami of Whispered Hopes or one of the several other mana producing creatures with Freed from the Real or Pemmin's Aura for either infinite mana or near infinite (such as Gyre Sage that will need some other source to produce blue or Crystalline Crawler that will need at least one additional counter increaser to go infinite)

Let me know what you think!

Updates Add

Checking my notes. last time I updated Atraxa, Praetors' Voice was April of 2021 and tons of new cards were needed to be added. As with my other decks. Cards that were removed have been added to the maybeboard for your consideration. Some hard/questionable calls were made when deciding on what to remove but mostly I took out things that were expensive to get out.

Notable removals:

Filigree Sages use to make infinite mana with Astral Cornucopia at 4 counters or untap Lux Cannon I felt like it was too situational of a combo to get up and running.

Lighthouse Chronologist was an interesting card to get more turns if people allowed it to get big enough but I find it either as a piece that instantly makes you a target or it would usually get destroyed before it could be used.

Venser, The sojouner was in the deck to abuse Deepglow Skate, again at this point I don't feel that is too helpful.

Additions:

For Creatures: Yuna, Grand Summonerfoil, Walking Ballista, Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider, Tekuthal, Inquiry Dominus, Ouroboroid, Kodama of the West Tree, Kami of Whispered Hopes, Grateful Apparition, Ezuri, Stalker of Spheres, Evolution Witness, Dreamtide Whale, and Bristly Bill, Spine Sower. All these either help get more mana for counters, give more counters, or give benefits for counters.

For Planeswalkers: Vraska, Betrayal's Sting and The Aetherspark (only for more targets to use Ichormoon Gauntlet on).

For Artifacts: Ichormoon Gauntlet, Replicating Ring, Staff of Compleation, Ozolith, the Shattered Spire, and The Earth Crystal. Out of these it might make sense to remove Staff of Compleation for Lux Cannon.

For Enchantments: Branching Evolution, Freed from the Real, Innkeeper's Talent, Loading Zone, Pemmin's Aura, Resourceful Defense, and Sphere Grid. More counters for counters is always nice and managed to slot Pemmin's Aura / Freed from the Real for possible infinite mana as described in the Combo section. Resourceful Defense to act like the The Ozolith if need be.

For Instant: Atomize, Fierce Guardianship, Mutational Advantage, Ripples of Potential, and Swords to Plowshares. Previously I felt the deck didn't have too many responses to potential threats/board-wipes.

And we did not touch Sorcery or Lands this time around.
