Budget Challenge: Sultai Lands Deck

This deck is part of a budget challenge to build an optimised deck for around 30€ - I always wanted to build a Damia deck so I've puzzled over her for a long time, trying to decide which direction to take her... so many different approaches to her; Elfball, Spellslinger, Flash etc.

I ended up deciding on a Lands Matter approach to her which I think is easiest on a budget and at the same time being very strong. So now I'm trying to balance control (mainly to keep Damia alive), and ramp - to in the end produce combos or game-ending big splashy spells!

As mentioned above this is a lands deck, so the main strategy is ramp! But we also have Damia to consider as she is naturally a big target for removal, so we have a protection package with counterspells, protection and even a back-up commander in the deck if need be.

Once we get the engine going (Damia out with protection) and we're ramping and drawing lots - we can start to look for our combo of choice or keep ramping until we draw up Villainous Wealth or even Sylvan Awakening.

Since we will usually ramp and draw so much, no tutors are really needed, but we do have a couple just in case and Demonic Collusion is just brilliant with Damia.

  • Recycle - This deck explodes with this on the battlefield! Also no downside with Damia.

  • Null Profusion - Exact same as above.

  • Patron of the Moon - Insane ramp card that is also part of a really nice combo.

  • Null Brooch - Negate on a stick, so good at protecting Damia and also helps to dump our hand!

  • Infernal Sovereign - Our back-up Commander, like Recycle but without the card disadvantage.

  • Spelunking - Brilliant when using budget landbase, also bouncelands becomes instant ramp, so really, such a strong card in this deck!

  • Tireless Provisioner - a budget Lotus Cobra, but better in this deck as we can save the mana.

  • Forbid - Best counterspell for Damia, can be used again and again... and again...

  • Demonic Collusion - Same as above this tutor is just brilliant with Damia.

  • Zimone and Dina - was supposed to be a back-up commander as well, but not sure if the token or dork generation in this deck is enough, needs to be tested some more.

There are multiple combos that will get us there, including:

Then you just play Sylvan Awakening and game over.

  • If you're feeling "lucky" then there's always just hitting someone with a gigantic Villainous Wealth, which is always fun!

If you love land decks, ramping and drawing cards like crazy then this deck is for you! It's been a lot of fun to play so far and plays differently every time.

"The Garden of Love" by William Blake

I went to the Garden of Love,
And saw what I never had seen:
A Chapel was built in the midst,
Where I used to play on the green.

And the gates of this Chapel were shut,
And 'Thou shalt not' writ over the door;
So I turn'd to the Garden of Love,
That so many sweet flowers bore.

And I saw it was filled with graves,
And tomb-stones where flowers should be:
And Priests in black gowns, were walking their rounds,
And binding with briars, my joys & desires.
