Daxos, the Enchanting Gentleman

Commander / EDH

o0Brilliance0o

The goal and main wincon of this deck is to play and keep your Commander, Daxos the Returned on the board, gain experience counters by playing a myriad of enchantments, and then start generating massive tokens using Daxos's mana ability. What makes the deck so incredibly fun is the cumulative power that you generate for yourself as your enchantments start stacking up, especially in the EDH format where your enchantment effects are so wide-reaching.

The deck has a total of 41 mana-producers/fixers, which is appropriate given its curve. You aren't going to need crazy ramp in this deck, especially in the Orzhov colors.

This deck has a very wide toolbox. There are 10 cards devoted to creature and/or noncreature removal, many of which you can pick and choose what you want to remove (for example, Oblivion Ring, Banishing Light. These removal cards double as enchantments for your experience counters; fun!

Of particular note is the role that Daxos plays in this deck. The deck center's around his ability, so protecting him and playing to the politics of the match is essential. There are cards like General's Kabuto, Indestructibility, and the classics Lightning Greaves and Swiftfoot Boots available to protect him, but even they might not be enough. If you feel that Daxos is quick to receive hate in your playgroup, I would strongly recommend including more cards to protect him such as Darksteel Plate and Bastion Protector. Daxos's ability is incredibly powerful, but it's also your main wincon so I cannot stress enough how important it is to keep him alive.

Finally, we have 8 cards devoted to drawing more cards which will keep you refueled. I wouldn't worry about losing life from cards like Ambition's Cost and Sign in Blood given that you have outlets for massive life gain such as Exsanguinate and Angelic Chorus.

At the time of writing this description, this deck clocks in at ~$130. This cost can be minimized easily by taking out the more expensive cards such as Athreos, God of Passage and Debtors' Knell. Just sort by price and pick and choose what you want to take out. I include them as is because they seem too good to give up. For example, Athreos is essentially a guaranteed indestructible 5/6 creature for 3 with all of the devotion you'll already have generated with your enchantments.

That's all for today, I hope you have fun with the deck!
