Citadel Siege Discussion

Basically, Isochron Scepter lets you choose a spell, and then cast that spell every turn. If the spell you choose is Silence , then you can cast Silence every time your opponent starts their turn. This prevents them from ever casting a spell, so they're stuck with whatever they already have out. Does that make sense?

Since you don't own Grand Abolisher , take it out. That frees up about $30 to spread around and improve your other cards. You could get an extra copy of Narset Transcendent and two more Path to Exile s and still have $8-10 left over if you drop Grand Abolisher , Citadel Siege , and one of the Valorous Stance s. It's almost always better to have multiple copies of your best cards, to make it more likely you draw them.

Nice to see another Breena player. I think you could stand to bring your creature count down to make room for more utility cards, namely draw and removal. Slow cards that require you to tap or pay good chunks of mana for their effects, or inefficient cards that only benefit themselves, one other creature, or are dependent on your opponent doing something, should be the first to go. Cards that have to wait a whole cycle of turns to do anything (i.e "At the beginning of your upkeep" cards) also aren't that great imo.

Bellowing Aegisaur Blightbeetle Bold Plagiarist Dark Impostor sus Fain, the Broker High Sentinels of Arashin Luminarch Aspirant Star Pupil Yahenni, Undying Partisan Utter End Vanishing Verse Citadel Siege Gleam of Authority

I'd consider these to be the worst cards in your deck and easily replaceable for some utility or cards that directly feed into your strategy, which is going wide with tokens and being able to place counters on all of them at once. If a creature only does benefit itself, it should have some kind of pay off for leaving the field since a card like that is likely to get removed once it gets big enough. Bloodtracker is a good example of this, as is Myriad Construct .

Already made some changesDemMeowsephs

  1. Some Creatures changes I end up adding: Yawgmoth, Thran Physician , Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit , Elenda, the Dusk Rose and Luminarch Aspirant . Also changed Citadel Siege for Felidar Retreat as it can give me tokens to sac and more counters not just 2

  2. Cut Mind's Eye , Black Sun's Zenith , Blot Out the Sky , Infernal Offering , Secret Rendezvous and Debtors' Knell

  3. More added: Sword of Truth and Justice , Sign in Blood , Beacon of Unrest , Command the Dreadhorde , Ambition's Cost and Victimize

  4. Doubts with: Custodi Soulbinders as it can give me a lot of tokens but I have to be set up already with my tokens or wait for oponents to set up their own table. I think I can swap it for something more usefull. Scheming Symmetry maybe I can get Profane Tutor until I have a more solid tutor.

Maybe quit some lands for other cards as: Phyrexian Altar The Ozolith Coat of Arms

I'm glad I could help! I have some other suggestions if it's no longer budget (I won't include Mana Crypt an stuff though haha) and you want to improve it some more: I see that you also have Ohran Frostfang , which is a great deterrent for your opponents deciding to block. Another good source of Deathtouch could be Bow of Nylea , which also does some other cool abilities on top of giving deathtouch. Some other good drawing enchantments include Garruk's Uprising , Elemental Bond , and Colossal Majesty . Since you run anthems, these guys can trigger on your weenies too. If you want something more consistent, Beast Whisperer and Mentor of the Meek are also good draw power. A fun card that puts creatures onto your opponent's side of the board is Hungry Lynx , especially because it gives your commander protection from the creatures it makes! Legion Loyalist seems perfect in this deck since he gives all your creatures first strike, trample, and evasion from tokens, and all of those things make it easier to get the goad trigger. Dragonmaster Outcast and Emeria Angel can make even more flying tokens to get that sweet goading trigger. Feldon of the Third Path seems good for when things are inevitably in the graveyard and you want to use them. Blade of Selves lets you use a creature you already have even more! Some other ramp that you haven't included is Selesnya Signet , Sol Ring , Rampant Growth , and Sword of the Animist . Anthems that you might consider are War Horn , Spear of Heliod , and Glory of Warfare .

The cards I would cut include: The small creatures with only a landwalk ability, like Dwarven Grunt and Treetop Scout ( Dryad Sophisticate is good, though). They are limited in their ability to get in for damage, and don't do much else beyond that, which makes them your more weak cards. I agree with your decision to try to cut the Hunted Troll , but the Hunted Dragon seems good since you can swing immediately and goad the tokens it makes. Although the Soltari creatures with shadow are good, I think you may have too many of them--they are intensive, and only Soltari Champion and Soltari Visionary really do anything when you use them. The Healer's Hawk and Segovian Angel are basically really bad Serra Ascendant s. If you want the 1-drop, maybe consider Figure of Destiny (gets bigger) or even Rhys the Redeemed (makes tokens). Citadel Siege and Dictate of Heliod are too slow and/or costly to make an impact, in my opinion. You know your meta better though.

Alright heres my main tips. First cut the creatures that dont matter, thats going to be swiftspear, and segovian angel. Next I dont really love being in on Auras. One removal spell and they all go away so, I believe that sentinel eyes and dragon mantle are going to be underwhelming, cut battlemastery. While its good, you can get more permanent sources of double strike from things like duelist heritage, bloodmist or True Conviction .

I think you are going to want 2-3 extra combat cards. Pick the ones that you have access to. Aurelia is the best, and Waves of Aggression and Aggravated Assault combo with sword of feast and famine. You are going to want a mask of memory, and probably a tome of legends, and because Tome of Legends , likely a Manifold Key . Finally you are going to want more things that put size and abilities on Rograkh. Thats going to be as many swords of X and Y as you have, with Sinew and Steel being the next best in line and dont forget about sword of DnD. I would get a Citadel Siege in the deck somewhere as another way to add more size. Other good equipment are Champion's Helm and Hammer of Nazahn , Maul of the Skyclaves , Loxodon Warhammer , Embercleave , Sword of Vengeance . A few value equipments you are missing are the alreayd mentioned, Mask of Memory , Dowsing Dagger  Flip, Explorer's Scope .

Once you get the equipment figured out, you'll want to get a bit more removal. 10-12 pieces for midpower metas and 13-15 for high power is usually about right. Volcanic Offering is a great piece, blasphemous act especially if you load up on red swords. Heliod's Intervention and Dismantling Wave are great artifacts and enchantments, Chandra's Ignition could be another nice 1 sided board wipe.

Since this is partner deck dont be afraid to go lower on the creature count. YOu have 2 in the command zone, so you could safely go down around 15 creatures or so. Good luck!

Heyya Tanman, taking a look at the list and I have some broad critiques and some smaller ones. Let's start big.

  • You don't have enough +1/+1 counter cards to make it worth including payoffs for.

  • If you're playing infect, you're gonna need evasion, because no one in their right mind just lets an infect creature through, and honestly they're pretty small bois to begin with. Fleshing out the +1 counter package may help with this, big creatures are more troublesome to block and effects like Tuskguard Captain and Abzan Falconer can provide evasion beyond just being big and chunky.

  • You could do with a bit more ramp and a LOT more card draw.

  • Cards that are probably cuttable include:

Melira, Sylvok Outcast: This synergizes with Phyrexian Unlife, yes, but what else does it do? I don't think this card does enough to justify ots inclusion.

Oko, the Trickster: I see this walker being cast for 6 mana, putting two +1 counters on one of your dudes, and immediately being focused to death by the rest of the table because its ult wins the game. You'd honestly be better off with Citadel Siege, it's harder to kill.

Arrest, Luminous Bonds, and Pacifism: in our meta, with so many creatures that either don't need to attack or can just be sacrificed, you're better off using kill spells like Mortify, Putrefy, or Swords to Plowshares (especially Swords bc exile beats recursion).

Grave Betrayal: such a sweet card, but much too slow.

Omen of the Dead and Omen of the Hunt: neither of these really do anything to further your gameplan. The fact that they're enchantments doesn't matter to this deck, and there are stronger recursion and ramp options.

Sunbond: There are 5 cards in this entire deck that gain you life. Goes great with your commander but there are a lot of things I'd rather spend my turn 4 on.

Courage in Crisis: Three whole mana for this effect? It's not a horrible card, but definitely inefficient.

Debt to the Deathless: This card would only be okay if damage was your primary win condition. As is? Not good.

Duneblast: The 7-mana slot may not be ideal for a wrath? Maybe this one is fine tho, idk.

Planewide Celebration: 7 mana to proliferate four times? No.

Storm Herd: Once again, this might be fine if damage was your wincon. You'd get a bunch of evasive attackers. As is? Probably not good.

Insidious Will and Memory Drain: probably go for cheaper counterspells, like Disdainful Stroke, Negate, or Essence Scatter.

Altogether though, great first deck, this would've kicked the crap out of my old Marath build back in the day.

GoblinElectromancer on Azorius Army

I think it's better to keep the deck size to 60 because it will be a lot more consistent and you probably won't mill yourself.

To cut: 2 Opt or Serum Visions, Feat of Resistance, Frantic Inventory, Dovin, Hand of Control, Spear of Heliod, Daxos of Meletis, Grand Arbiter Augustin IV, Citadel Siege, Teferi's Ageless Insight, Jace, Memory Adept, and Teferi, Timeless Voyager.

I don't know about the rest of the deck and playing a couple extra cards can't hurt as long as you play extra lands. If you do play extra cards play Yorion, Sky Nomad as your companion so that you can get a free card every game.

Good Luck on the deck!
