If you're looking for a fun deck to play in your fairly casual play group this is not the deck for you this is not it. You will often get hate from your opponents without any prior action on your part just because you are playing this deck. Games can end up being quite long and grindy thanks to the stax part of the deck and that's not fun for anyone bar possibly yourself.

This is a stax/control build for Derevi. The main idea of the deck is to slow down your opponents by flashing in Derevi, tapping down their attackers and chump blocking (hence the name of the deck). This allows you to run into your big cards like Iona, Shield of Emeria that allow you to lock down the board. There's some pillowforting and protection in Norn's Annex and Propaganda. The stax elements in the deck are predominantly Winter Orb and Static Orb. Thanks to the way old artifacts were ruled they work perfectly with Derevi, but this requires you to 1, have enough mana to flash in Derevi in the endstep before your turn and 2, have a sac outlet that you can use to ensure Derevi is off the battlefield. This lead to the addition of Ashnod's Altar and Phyrexian Altar as they provide you with additional mana that can help to pay for the flash cost.

It is possible to obtain infinite mana in Derevi. The simplest combo is for colourless mana, this requires you to have Derevi on the battlefield with a Bloom Tender and an Ashnod's Altar. the Bloom Tender adding to your mana pool. Then sac Derevi onto Ashnod's Altar getting , flash Derevi back in the Bloom Tender leaving you with floating. Repeating this obviously you'll end up with . It is also possible to tap down every single one of your opponents permanents (without hexproof) in their untap step using the same combo with a Panharmonicon, in this case a Phyrexian Altar can be swapped out for the Ashnod's Altar. There are a lot more combos running through the deck, many of them involving Mana Reflection and Panharmonicon.

There is an infinite turn combo with Venser, the Sojourner + Eternal Witness + Time Stretch/Time Warp. This allows you to win by commander damage with Derevi. The deck is fairly strong at the moment but in some ways feels as though it's lacking a reliable win con. In my experience, mill decks are one of the harder matchups as this deck will often slow down the game and that can be precisely what mill wants to do.
