Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle

Commander / EDH Control GU (Simic) Mill

Fleda

A blue/green control deck with milling the opponents as the win condition. Arixmethes is used primarily as a land that produces two mana, though I suppose one could use it as a creature if they were so inclined (I don't remove the last counter unless it's an emergency).

The goal of the deck is to survive until you have enough mana and cards to go off in one turn, typically milling out your opponents together in one go. Prosperity into Windfall with Psychic Corrosion is the sort of big play the deck is looking to make. The deck attempts to survive through the use of countermagic, fogs, and blockers, as well as players not prioritizing it as a threat.

Be sure to hold onto a Relic of Progenitus or equivalent for the big turn, as the spending all your mana to kill two players sure does suck when the third player shuffles in Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre when all is said and done.

This is an interesting take on Arixmethes! It is unique and creative, which is why I wonder why you don't have more graveyard hate in this deck, such as a Tormod's Crypt (forgive the fact the card is not highligthed; whenever I use the method, I keep getting stupid errors). You'll need some graveyard hate should you be facing a Meren deck.

If you have some time, could you check out my Dangerous Denizens of the Deep deck? I really don't know how to fix it and I thought a fellow Arixmethes player might have an idea.

I am running Tormod's Crypt, alongside Relic of Progenitus, Crook of Condemnation, Silent Gravestone, and Scavenger Grounds, but your point is valid and highlights why I am running quite a few gravehate options. Filling graveyards is often what people are trying to do, and in case someone is running some sort of graveyard recursion or, heaven forbid, something that shuffles their graveyard into their library, my strategy can be ruined quickly. Every time a new graveyard removal artifact comes out I consider it.

Thanks for the comment! I'll take a look at your Arixmethes deck.
