Sasaya, Orochi Ascendant

Commander / EDH* Mono-Green

Maybeboard

This Sasaya, Orochi Ascendant   EDH deck plays out like a Combo deck. In the first turns you'll try to fill up your hand with 7 lands and then play Sasaya and flip her right away. With so many Forests in the deck you'll have a bunch of mana to invest in big creatures and token makers which will crush your opponents quickly.

It's important to manage your land search while still making your normal land drops. You don't want to get over your hand limit without a Reliquary Tower in play. That's why you often get your last lands the same turn you'll cast Sasaya (you can keep your 7th land in hand to flip her before playing a land for your turn).

I'll now talk about some key cards of the deck:

Fetch Lands + Cycle Lands + Life from the Loam This is your best land search engine and totally worth the inclusion of the Fetch Lands (which also have some synergy with Crucible of Worlds and Realms Uncharted). Don't be shy to cast Life from the Loam with only one land in your grave, you can most often make it three lands the following turn with one dredge.

Howling Mine + Temple Bell + Rites of Flourishing + Font of Mythos Although not land search by themself, these cards will net you more lands through their additional draws. It's important to play them early to get more advantage out of them over time. Your opponents will be thankful and maybe keep you alive a little longer. ;)

Wakeroot Elemental Goes infinite with Sasaya and six or more Forests. The best creature in your deck. You'll often search for it with your tutors.

Kamahl, Fist of Krosa Probably the second best creature in the deck. With too much mana he can give you enough pump to swing for lethal with only a couple creatures on the board and animated lands.

Genesis Wave This is the most explosive spell you can cast with a lot of mana. It even ramps you with the additional lands it puts into play.

Polukranos, World Eater + Beast Within This deck sacrifices a lot of protection to be more streamlined but these two can handle some nasty permanents which will stop your ambush.

The Maybeboard consists of some cards I'm not certain of adding to the deck. Some examples: Akroma's Memorial and Concordant Crossroads give you the chance to attack for lethal the same turn you build up your army. Scrying Sheets + Snow-Covered Forest can net you some more lands without the need of casting spells. Try out some of these cards yourself to change the deck a little bit and maybe even improve it.
