Reality Collapsed

Commander / EDH*

Your fate does not belong to you

Aminatou holds the power to alter fate at will. She can witness and change the future, bringing forth the end at her whim. Enemies vanish in the blink of an eye, worlds shift, and reality collapses at the hand of Aminatou. With just a whisper, Aminatou calls forth a destiny she chooses.

Aminatou's blink engine holds devastating power and brings about the end of times through a variety of means.

The engine's core is built with Aminatou, the Fateshifter and Felidar Guardian. These two cards work together with many additional pieces and are referenced throughout the following sections. The engine operates through Aminatou blinking Guardian using her -1 ability and Guardian blinking Aminatou with its enter the battlefield (ETB) ability. This can be done an infinite number of times, building win conditions when combined with many other cards in the deck.

Through the use of the blink engine, a number of win conditions can be met, allowing for some redundancy as long as Felidar Guardian is accessible.

Vela the Night Clad

Vela the Night-Clad wins immediately with the engine. All that is required is to continually run the engine as each time Felidar Guardian leaves the battlefield, each opponent loses 1 life. Vela does not require the full main blink engine to go infinite, needing only Felidar Guardian and Restoration Angel. Angel and Guardian can blink one another infinitely, damaging opponents each time.

Altar of the Brood

Altar of the Brood will remove all cards from each opponent's library when combined with the engine. Each time Felidar Guardian or Aminatou, the Fateshifter enters the battlefield, cards will be milled from the opponents until their libraries are empty. As long as no opponents have cards which shuffle themselves or their graveyard back into their library, this will win when each opponent attempts to draw a card from their empty library. Be wary of Laboratory Maniac as you will just cause your opponent to win.

Panharmonicon and Oath of Teferi

Panharmonicon and Oath of Teferi are cards which work differently, but achieve the same effect. Each allows the engine to blink a creature in addition to Felidar Guardian. Panharmonicon accomplishes this by doubling Guardian's ETB to blink Aminatou and another creature with a powerful ETB. Oath allows Aminatou to activate her -1 twice during the turn so she can blink any permanent as well as Guardian. Each of these keep the engine going indefinitely. Additional permanents in this combination include the following: - Gray Merchant of Asphodel - Gray Merchant will drain each opponent life equal to your devotion to black. This will be at least 3 life each ETB (2 in Gray Merchant's mana cost and 1 in Animatou's). - Ashen Rider - Ashen Rider will exile a permanent each time it enters the battlefield, completely clearing the opponents' boards, leaving them with no threats and no mana. - Reality Acid - Reality Acid works similarly to Ashen Rider, but causes the permanent to be sacrificed rather than exiled. Ensure your opponents don't have a way to play reanimation on their next turn or they will bring back at least one threat. Reality Acid may be better than Ashen Rider in some cases as enchantments may be attached to creatures which cannot be otherwise targeted (through shroud or hexproof) if the enchantment enters the battlefield without being cast. When first cast, Reality Acid must be able to attach to a valid target, but each time it is blinked after, it may be attached to anything without protection.

Aminatou can summon forth immense monsters and conjure reality-altering hexes through the manifestation of ethereal mists. Cloudform and Lightform each manifest the top card of your library, then enchant that card, giving the manifested 2/2 flying and an additional ability. Through careful manipulation of the top of the deck, incredibly powerful cards can be summoned to the battlefield much more quickly than they otherwise would. Mastery of the Unseen can repeatedly manifest the top card, creating a swarm of small creatures which threaten becoming much more deadly threats. After putting powerful, expensive cards such as Omniscience and Sorin, Grim Nemesis can be manifested from the top of the deck, then blinked with Aminatou, Restoration Angel, Felidar Guardian, or Deadeye Navigator to cheat them out for less mana than they otherwise would cost. Occasionally, the card manifested may be an instant or sorcery, which has no value when blinked. For instances where a nonpermanent is manifested, Primordial Mist can be activated to allow casting of the manifested card.

Suggestions

Updates Add

-1 Gray Merchant of Asphodel - I was excited about this card at first, but if I'm going to combo anyway, I already have Obzedat, Ghost Council which I think it cooler because ghosts.

-1 Chromatic Lantern - I don't think I need to worry about turning all my lands into gold lands. I chose to keep Commander's Sphere over Chromatic Lantern as instant speed draw from Sphere could help miracles a bit more.

-1 Swan Song - I'm not sure how many counters I need considering I have removal and other protection. I still have Flusterstorm and Counterspell so I'll try just those and see how it works out.

-1 Magus of the Balance - Balancing could set myself back as well. I think I would rather board wipes and spot removal rather than this for now.

+1 Crystal Ball - I need to make sure I have plenty of way to manipulate the top of my deck. All these combos don't do anything if I can't reliably get them where I want them.

+1 Telling Time - I felt like I needed a bit more topdeck manipulation and instant speed is good. I may need even more eventually.

+1 Island - I figure I need a bit more land to make sure I've got the mana for what I want to do. The mana base still needs some tweaking so I will have to test.

+1 Sun Titan - This can bring back Cloudform and Lightform for more manifesting if needed. Can bring back Sensei's Divining Top if that gets removed. And can bring back some of the good ETB creatures that get removed.
