My LGS got in a Rasputin Dreamweaver and upon seeing it, I knew I had to build a deck around him. It's intended to be a midrange value train to Comboville that only stops to replenish Rasputin's counters, which is done by flickering him with things like Eldrazi Displacer, Deadeye Navigator, Restoration Angel, Conjurer's Closet, Momentary Blink, and Ghostly Flicker. And since the deck ramps with mana rocks, it's not a Catastrophe if my lands get destroyed along the way.

  • Eldrazi Displacer enables infinite colorless mana with Rasputin, which can be put into Walking Ballista, Steel Hellkite, Eldrazi Displacer + Gilded Drake, Gemstone Array + Capsize, or something as simple as drawing the entire deck with Sphinx's Revelation or Pull from Tomorrow and playing it all.

  • Gemstone Array is semi-important, but only as a filter for infinite colorless mana. Combining it with Rasputin and Deadeye Navigator makes infinite colored mana as well. Using it by itself is a waste of mana, and usually means I have nothing else to do and I'm probably losing.

  • Alternately, the deck can grind out wins through combat, or by concession after destroying everyone's lands and leaving itself in a winning position. The latter may not feel the greatest to anyone involved but it is a solid tactic for decks that run enough mana rocks or can otherwise survive without lands.

  • Use Eye of Ugin to search up Eldrazi Displacer for all the aforementioned reasons, Kozilek, Butcher of Truth to draw 4 cards and beat someone down, or Spawnsire of Ulamog to make blockers and unleash a swarm of eldrazi from the sideboard.

  • Dig for combo pieces with Day's Undoing, Time Spiral, Time Reversal, and Commit / Memory. This also un-sculpts everyone's hands and graveyards, which is good when your opponents play out of their graveyards. Also, casting one of these spells too early (turn 1 Day's Undoing for example) can mana screw opponents and make them draw dead cards.

  • Once I control enough mana rocks to have both colors of mana plus a few extra colorless, I can safely destroy all the lands with Catastrophe as long as my opponents don't have big scary beaters that I won't be able to block for a few turns. Then I (hopefully) play some combo pieces and win, or at the very least start digging for them instead of durdling while everyone hates me for slowing the game to a crawl. Having Cascading Cataracts in play can help quite a bit with filtering colorless mana.

I occasionally play in relatively competitive local tournaments and if I wanted to make this deck viable in that setting, these are the changes I'd make:

  • Add more counter magic so I can tell my opponents "no" when they try to interrupt or aim things at me or my stuff.

  • Play more taxing effects, since Rasputin and my mana rocks can allow me to pay taxes while still having mana to advance my game plan and/or respond to things.

  • Add Sunder to prevent or provoke responses before I try to combo off.

  • Add Time Warp effects so that I may have an unfair advantage over my opponents. I personally feel that these effects should never have been printed but there's no denying their power, and I play to win in tournament settings.
