Mastering the Maelstrom

This is a deck I've been playing for quite some time. I originally started with Surrak Dragonclaw deck then Animar before landing with Maelstrom Wanderer. I love tinkering with it occasionally to try different things when my play group changes things up. I've tried Yidris and just didn't enjoy it nearly as much, tough adding black can be fun and allow for some interesting synergies you couldn't get with just Wanderer. I don't play stuff like Jokulhaups because I have morals and land destruction just isn't fun to play with or against.

I used to run Food Chain without the infinite combo and thought it was nice, but eventually cut it because I wanted to make things easier for my group and thought it was a bit too strong. I run Animar, Soul of Elements + Palinchron or Palinchron + Zendikar Resurgent for an infinite combo because there are some very mean or chaotic decks I play against from time to time. I know there is an infinite turn combo in the deck, but it wasn't something I put in intentionally and almost never use it Eternal Witness + Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Time Warp . Infinite turns can really suck some joy out of a game, occasionally I even get asked me to play it out to see if I can win even though they know very well that I can.

I don't use stuff like Crystal Shard, because I guess I just like having Maelstrom Wanderer and I don't usually like playing decks that rely too heavily on their Commanders to do things. Though I can always use Greater Good for some card draw when I need it and for another cast of Wanderer. I usually find that after casting Maelstrom Wanderer for the second or third time that I probably have enough of an advantage and if I can't get a win from there then my opponent probably deserves it.
