Rakdos the Defiler! You may be asking yourself, "Why on earth would I use this terrible commander? Why run Rakdos the Defiler? BR isn't even great colors without a commander, you'd be better of with a Morophon, the Boundless and never casting it." Well, let me enlighten you to the joys of Kingmaking and other non-niceties.

Rakdos the Defiler is objectively terrible, but has one cool trick. If you don't care about winning, you can usually guarantee that someone specific will lose. That is, if you can hit them with a 7/6 Flying Trampler, most decks will have to sacrifice half of their permanents. These include lands, because Rakdos is old and WotC wasn't big on balance yet.

The real joy with Rakdos is a very Christmas-like thing however; the joy of giving. There's nothing more dangerous than a Rakdos the Defiler equipped with Assault Suit that just got goaded. It's absolutely the most fun you can have playing this game, watching the next player realize that this is gonna get ugly real quick. Of course, removal is an option, but sometimes players don't have it right now and are gonna have to got through the best/worst turn first.

In order to accomplish this, we need several things:

  1. A Way to Give Rakdos to Someone Else
  2. A Way to Force them to Attack with Rakdos And preferably;
  3. A Way to Prevent them from Attacking Us

But that last one isn't even that important. That's why Bazaar Trader is in the deck, because I don't really care if Rakdos kills us too.

Of course, if you do the same thing every game, it becomes very obvious what you're gonna do and people can just plan to hold removal. This is good, more players need to hold removal, but it does make this deck a dumb idea. So, there are multiple ways to win with this deck.
