Welcome to It's Stomping Time !

Dropping large, bombshell-like beasts on the battlefield by turn 4-5; that's a great way to spice things up quickly. Granted, Mayael the Anima may not be as fast as Kaalia of the Vast or Braids, Conjurer Adept. However, she doesn't need to attack to conjure said bombshells, nor does she grant her conjuring power to anyone but her own controller.

Feedback to this deck is more than welcome, but before you give any, please take note of the following:

  1. Members of our playgroup feel that the primary goal of playing a game of EDH/Commander is that all players participating have a fun time. This means most of our EDH/Commander decks are not meant to be competitive. We enjoy the occasional infinite combo (mostly because they can be hilarious), but none of us feel the need to build decks that are exclusively about them.
  2. We have not bought any new cards since June 2016. We still trade cards though, but only when we feel the trade adds something to our collection without significant loss to it. This means that whenever you are suggesting a new card that we do not own, chances are pretty slim it is going to end up in our deck. Please do not take this personally. Also, please do not let this stop you from making suggestions. Suggestions that do not make it into this deck, will still be mentioned on this page and might be used by others.
  3. Please do not forget to include the card(s) you would remove to make room for your recommended card(s).
  4. Please do not recommend any cards with infect or cards whose sole purpose is to destroy basic lands (non-basic lands are fair game). Our playgroup has banned them.

With that being said, thank you for all your support and if you should decide to use our ideas, have lots of fun with them.

Though Mayael is not our only means to get insanely large creatures onto the table in relatively short order, she is your most consistently available source to make that happen. So, assuming for a minute that it's mostly her ability we're going to use, here's the order of play I'd suggest:

  1. Ramp; obviously. Get up to six available mana pronto (making sure you have at least one W/G/R). The deck contains creatures (like Birds of Paradise), enchantments (like Exploration) and sorceries (like Rampant Growth) to get you there quickly. Also, if you happen to get the opportunity to play Scroll Rack within the first couple of turns, do so! It's going to help you immensely from the very beginning in making your selections.

  2. Get Mayael the Anima onto the field. However, if you get the chance to play any of the 'dropping-bombshells-for-next-to-nothing' cards first (like Elvish Piper or Quicksilver Amulet), do so (especially when you already have Scroll Rack on the field).

  3. Start dropping them bombs and stomp our opponents with em!

Updates Add

Thanks for some very helpful advice from JV38, I've decided to replace Asceticism with Pathrazer of Ulamog. Also, once I've acquired them,Spearbreaker Behemoth will replace Karametra, God of Harvests and Siege Behemoth will replace Engulfing Slagwurm.
