on my journey through the color pie and combinations, for grixis ive always wanted to build Nekusar. Slowly drawing cards until group slug hits with a couple wheels. this is my first attempt so im still working out the kinks and see what works and doesnt.

+1upvote if you like my list

I Loved Nekusar, but he always made a big target I built a deck off of Crosis, the Purger with a discard/draw theme going on. This is slightly less of a target, making you easily combo off without anybody knowing. Also, have you considered running Curiosity? Infinite combos FTW

you, like most nekusar decks i see, need moar ramp. May i suggest thran dynamo, chrome mox, and mind over matter to allow you to go infinite easily?

I have a friend who threw in a Copy Artifact and a Phyrexian Metamorph targeting Teferi's Puzzle Box. It was a bit ridiculous drawing through almost a quarter of my deck a turn and it was probably the most interesting game I've played in a while. If you're into chaos that would definitely be something to look into. Also as much as i hate the combo there is the ol' give the commander infect play but be ready to be hated out hard for that.

SilentNightIndustries wow, thank you so much for the idea. that is something i would like to put into the deck. now you've got me thinking if adding in Copy Enchantment would give me more flexibility along with the two you suggested.

have you thought about tossing in Painful Quandary?
also fun could be Memory Jar and Dictate of the Twin Gods with nekusar out. it reads, crack memory jar, each opponent takes 14 damage.
throw in a Whip of Erebos or Eternal Thirst/Cruel Feeding to give nekusar lifelink and suddenly gain 42 life!

Megalomania the shockers seems good. but how easily someone can get rid of a 1/1 or a 2/2. the Anvil of Bogardan seems good just havent gotten around to picking one up.

Grind thanks for the ideas! Dictate of the Twin Gods seems really good!

I playtested this against one of my EDH decks. The ONLY reason my deck survived, was using cards like Control Magic and Mind Control to take control of Nekusar, the Mindrazer (dumb luck there), the fact that most of my deck was removal spells for when I couldn't steal him, and that I had lots of lifegain from Oloro, Ageless Ascetic. Even then, it was incredibly close - and I think that was the first time apart from facing a mill deck that I used Necropotence to avoid drawing cards. It has certainly earned an upvote!

A card I wholeheartedly recommend for this:

Black Vise - an additional source of agony beyond Nekusar himself, the three or so damage it often gives would be a sure way to hurt your opponents for having a full hand. Plays well with Fevered Visions, which I see you already have.

I really don't have much suggestions beyond that, maybe an Ivory Tower. The deck itself was just that efficient at doing what it needed to.

Lord_Khaine thanks so much! ive only gotten a couple chances to play the deck but so far it seems fun. i try not to be "that guy" when i show up to play commander. i hadnt even thought about the way Necropotence skips your draw step. ill have to look into the Black Vise i tried to stay away from single target stuff but it wouldnt be a bad idea.

may i ask what you playtested on?

Sub out Kami for Otherworld Atlas. More damage, and it can late game fill your hand in a pinch.

Silly me, I forgot Black Vise only worked for one opponent. That does put a damper on its playability. Ludevic, Necro-Alchemist would actually be a much better choice in combination with your commander. He also encourages other players to attack people other than you.

Call of Deckbuilders: Oloro's Warfare

I played an Oloro, Ageless Ascetic deck where the vast, vast majority of cards in it were focused on creatures or permanents that had removal functions. Ethersworn Adjudicator, Sorin, Grim Nemesis, Angel of Serenity, Control Magic, Dominating Licid, Spell Queller, etc. With the exception of a few ramp cards, each card is meant to increase my board state and give me card advantage by messing up my opponent.
