Does a colorless creature count as a mono-colored creature?

Asked by TheHelvault 8 years ago

In my new standard BUG Control, I'm sideboarding Ultimate Price for some additional creature removal. My question is whether or not Ultimate Price will destroy my opponents' colorless creatures , including multi-colored creatures with Devoid which are also, therefore, colorless. 1.So simply, would Ultimate Price kill Blisterpod? 2. Would Ultimate Price kill Hangarback Walker? 3. Would Ultimate Price kill Sire of Stagnation?

No on all counts. Whether the intended creature be colorless, artifact, or have an ability that deprives it of its color, it is not a legal target for Ultimate Price because in order for a card to be mono colored, it must have one exact colored mana symbol in its CMC, and not have any ability rendering it devoid of color.

More generally, and perhaps thus easier to grok, it needs to be one and only one of white, blue, black, green or red.
