This deck is based around the Harry Potter "Horcrux" concept - as in there are a number of different ways to not die or lose the game as you are playing. The horcruxes are:

  1. Platinum Angel - Not much to say here
  2. Gideon of the Trials - Again, not much to say about this one. Pretty straightforward
  3. Stunning Reversal - Stops you from dying on one turn - short term horcrux
  4. Phyrexian Unlife + Solemnity - Stops counters from being put on things and infect is a counter! You get to 0 life but cannot lose so you can pay as much life as you want (this is the combo I tend to use the most as a horcrux).
  5. Solitary Confinement - Works great with a card like Necropotence. You cant take any combat or burn damage, and still are able to draw cards in your turn. Works great!
  6. Enduring Angel   - Make it so you don't die when your hit zero!
  7. Angel's Grace - Instant speed trick card for not losing the game? Sign me up!
  8. Pact Weapon - Easy to equip, card draw, and keeps you alive? Great deal in my book.

There's also a bunch of pillowfort outside of the Horcruxes (Voldemort kept himself surrounded in deatheaters, didnt he?)

  1. Ghostly Prison
  2. Fountain Watch
  3. Holy Day
  4. Windborn Muse
  5. Opposition Agent - Do we call this sorta pillowfort now?
  6. Solitary Confinement - Already a Horcrux, but it's also a great deterrent
  7. Drannith Magistrate

Now, how do you win with this deck? The main method to victory is a Thassa's Oracle or Jace combo, but you have to be able to get there right? There are a number of different ways to get yourself to that combo:

  1. Doomsday - This is also obvious. Make sure you stack the deck correctly with draw and counter spells, you don't want someone to counter your thassa!
  2. Ad Nauseam - With the solemnity / phyrexian unlife on the battlefield, you can ad nauseam your entire deck away!
  3. Tainted Pact / Spoils of the Vault - Same idea as ad nauseam. Spoils only works if you have the solemnity / phyrexian unlife combo on the battlefield so that you dont die (or any of the other horcruxes)
  4. Confessor + Lich + Skirge Familiar - Any of the lich cards work with this. You discard a card with Skirge familar for 1 black. Confessor lets you gain 1 life, but lich says instead of gaining life, draw a card. With this 3 card combo out, you can basically craft your hand by going through the entire deck, make yourself ~ 80 black mana, and either play thassa or Exsanguinate for the win.
  5. Of course the Demonic Consultation holding priority method as well.

You can also win with Triskaideckaphile and your Necropotence, so that is an option as well.

Zur was picked for this deck because a lot of the enchantments needed are 3 mv. If he gets you one enchantment that you need (most of the times at least 2) then he was worth it. Once you get the horcruxes on the battlefield he isn't much use anymore.
